I read somewhere that a way to make custom fender skirts was to use a door skin . Use the rib at the window opening for the rib along the bottom edge of the skirt . The door has a slight radius to it also . If I find the article I’ll post it .

Was just watching a video of the Mooneye's show in Japan and caught this car... I really like the chop on it. And, I really need to get to work on this someday... Anyone know any details on this car?

I also kinda like the color. I'm a long way from needing to worry about what color I paint the car, but I also need all the motivation I can get.

Also, I guess I may be working toward some progress. I found a chrome shop in the town where I bought my shoebox that seems pretty dang reasonable for nice work. I have all the receipts from where they chromed lots of stuff on the shoebox and the prices are nowhere near what I hear from others. Sounds like it is just a small shop that doesn't advertise at all. Kinda thinking I need to do a couple grilles, maybe bumpers, some Studebaker taillight bezels, etc. before they close the doors or something. I am also a long way from worrying about chrome, but figure I might need to jump while there is a good opportunity.

I like the color too, It is not one of the colors you normally think of for a chopped 40 Merc like Maroon dark green or black. But it really suits the car well. I think the white interior helps too

  11. For sure, jump on the chrome shop while you can. Pricing seemed good, but the fact they are still operating, you need to act on that.

Hmm…seems that is the same car that I posted earlier that I loved the chop on? At least I am consistent…

To be honest, I would have had a hard time going through the whole car again when it looked really good as a black car as well. :D

And, I guess I will have to have someone else show me the IG stuff since it kicks me out after I scroll just a little bit on that link...

Ok, with some more searching...I think I lied. I think this is a different car than what I was thinking. Both great chops though.

Both cars look like they are in motion even though they are sitting still. Very Kool with nice flowing lines

    That blue Merc is striking!
The black one is a good looking jigger too, just much more subdued.

It’s amazing how it only takes two or three mods to make a 39-40 Merc perfect. A gorgeous chop, significant lowering, and remove the name badges. A guy could go wild with some Studebaker taillights, or remove the door handles, but nothing beyond that. They really are a “less is more” car.
