This is NOT for guys who wouldn't set foot in Harbor Freight to save their lives! But for the rest of us, these are pretty fair deals on good tools.
First is their 29 piece ***anium drill bit sets. These are really good, only drawback is bits smaller than 1/4" seem to break a tiny bit easier than Hansons. I accommodated that by buying two sets of these, one for replacements, and HF sells packs of 10 bits in most of the smaller sizes for a couple bucks each. Have been abusing my set of these for 10 or so years and still drilling strong!

I need to make no excuses for these 4 1/2" angle grinders. They work and last as well as the +$100 name brands. And if it fails, drop anther $15 and get av replacement. If you are an Inside Track club member these are currently $10!! Buy 3 or 4.
4.3 Amp, 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder with Slide Switch
Step drills are indispensable tools and these are half price of the name brand, last a long time in my hobby-level usage.

Ah **** you got me going to HF again and I just went and picked up three pair of gloves and some other small items. That angle grinder doesn't usually hold up well but I wonder if it will run that belt sander kit that I bought online that I may or may not have one of my black and decker grinders to use with it.

I'm just going to say that there is a hell of a lot of difference in buying tools to make money with every day of the week or buying them for hard use in an industrial environement and buying them for occasional use at home and usually used lightly. That blue Hercules 13 amp grinder I have works a lot better than all the others I have had though.

The two pack of leather welding gloves work great for t******* with blackberries in PNW without getting stabbed by the thorns, also work good for welding on the projects.

They had those same angle grinders on sale for $9.99 with coupon back in October and I got a couple more. I hate changing wheels during a build, and so I have a different wheel on each grinder. My only non HF grinder is a Makita and it died this summer, so I grabbed two more HF at the $9.99 price then. My other 3 are all about 15 years old, and seen a lot of car builds without issues.
I have a set of Drill Hogg bits with the lifetime warranty and love them, but the warranty is worthless. It says no matter what happens they'll replace the broken bits, but I've tried multiple times to get small bits replaced and they wont even call me back. I bought the HF set and I think they're just as good, and cheap, so I'm going to buy one more set for my back shop.

I have a 1" belt sander conversion on one of mine. I have 5 or 6, each with a different blades; grinding disk, sanding disk, slitting disk, diamond tile saw, etc. Saves changing tools all the time.

Just missed out on the purple spray gun for $8.88. Sale went off 12/7. I already have 3; 1 for color/clear, one with bigger tip and needle for primer, and a back up.

I ordered the set from their parts dept. Was many years ago, don't remember if they were listed on the user guide or I contacted them for the availability. Either way, they readily supplied the bigger set.

I just picked up 2 sets of their 3 ton Jack stands last night. It was the last day for them at 34.99 a set.

Watched a video the other day where a guy tests several sets of 3 ton stands and the HF set did as good or better than some.

It took 7000 pds of weight to make one fail, that's just over 2 times their rating so they should be enough to hold the frame of my model A.

I also have 3 of their 4-1/2" bench grinders, I too hate changing disc's when working. So 1 has a cut off disc, another has a 80 grit sanding disc and the last a 1" belt sander attachment.

Had a Milwaukee, it lasted about 4 yrs, had my first HF and it lasted 3 yrs. So for the price I'm happy with the price and reliability!

  11. Their Hercules line of tools so far is much superior to their regular line, from my experience. I bought the blue impact socket gun and was very pleased.

Yes, they have 3 grades now. Gone is the old Central, Pittsburgh, Chicago etc., tools. They were all about the same average grade at really low price. They now have their low, Warrior, medium, Bauer and top of the line, Warrior grades. All are superior to the old ones, Bauer and Warrior I would put up against any name brand for overall value.

Yep. I suffered a bit of Partzheimers and listed Warrior twice! It is Hercules top of the line.

They have a wrench shoot out video on YouTube that's interesting.

They bought a couple different makes of wrenches from Home Depot, a snap-on set, maybe Mac tools too and the cheap and the best sets Harbor Freight had.

The top of the line Harbor Freight scored just under Snap-on, he was surprised they did that well. He put them on bolts then using a press with a pressure Gauge pressed against the other end until the wrench failed or the bolt head failed, snap-on was tops but HF was close behind.

And I "think" the snap-on was 8 times as expensive...

The only real advantage of Snap-on or Mac tools is they come to you, break one and just wait until they show up in their truck, hand them the tool and have them warranty it out right there..

I have a tool box full of snap-on and mac tools so i know just how expensive they can get....

I've got a bunch from when they were $9.99 with the gauge/regulator.
They realized a lot of their stuff was junk and are now offering different levels. I'm not sure I would have chosen ICON - I con for the upscale stuff.
This is a good and puts out enough light to actually see stuff. I got mine on sale for $20-25.

$9.99? At that price if it lasts you patching a rotten frame it paid for itself 10 times over. Am very envious, where I am (Austria) we have a sort of HF equivalent but the cheapest such angle grinder I found was $33:confused:

Yes, you need to use discretion with HF tools. Some don't last long enuf to get them home but their good stuff is really good. Their end wrenches are every bit as good as my old Craftsman's set. And I won't but any other phillips screwdrivers. I have 10 yr old HF phillips that have tips still sharp as brand new. Throw rounded over Craftsmans away after a year or so.

Yes - now that you can't walk into your neighborhood Sears and trade it for a new one. I have one of those impact screwdrivers. When I got it Sears still covered the bits - later ones say the bits aren't covered by the lifetime warranty. The clerk would have to call the manager and every time after I showed them the paperwork they gave me new bits.

But Sears stores are hard to find nowadays! Haven't been in one in maybe 12-15 years. Back in the day, we bought almost everything email or in person from Sears. Now its Amazon. And Harbor Freight of course!!!!!

Like you almost all of my tools are Snap on and Mac but I’d say at least 3/4 of them I bought at pawn shops and swap meets. But all of them are in a Harbor Freight toolbox because I was not spending the money for a Snap on box this big, that and my daughter worked there and I got one heck of a DEEP DISCOUNT ;)

My last purchase at Harbor freight was about 15 years ago when I purchased this heavy duty drill press on a stand with a nice table. I brought it home took it out of the box, ***embled it, got is wrestled into place and after it sat there for a few days I needed some 1/2 inch holes drilled in some steel plate. First the handle tried to fall off and I finally jerryrigged it to stay on then the chuck refused to stay on the taper, belt wouldn't stay tight and other minor things. I wrestled it into the back into the pickup bed, drove the 90 miles back o Lincoln. The manager was extremely nice and said we've been having a few problems with that model. He gave me a full refund no questions asked. I stopped in Beatrice on the way home at the Sears store, spent an extra 3-400 dollars for the same thing and it's still drilling with no problems. Never been back to Harbor Freight.

  30. I wish Harbor Freight still offered an English wheel. I'm too old and cheap to pony up the cash for a better one, too inept a fabricator to make my own and yet I still need one to build the kind of express bed I need for my truck. I'll probably be shopping for someone's used English wheel in a few months or looking for a sheet metal fabricator who can shoot me a decent bid to bend up what I design. Worst case, I'll make it mostly of wood with some quarter-inch-thick by two-inch bar bracing and call it sufficient. Next summer's project? We'll see.
