When the daughters were little (they're in their mid/late 40's now) I had a '39 Buick Special 4-dr that I bought specifically so they could get in/out of the back doors.

As you would expect it went down the road many moons ago. Wish I still had it.

From the firewall back basically the same as the '39 Chevy that winduptoy posted on page one.

My daily driver, I had no choice because they only made 4 door sedans and wagons.

I’ll be pulling my 39 Zephyr back in the shop this winter to make it roadworthy for the summer. Though a 3 window conversion is inevitable, the first rendition will be as a stock 4 door.

Despite all the fast stuff I’ve had over the years this is probably my favourite 20250923_111717.jpeg

  22. The four-door bashing has declined over the last few years for me. I found our 56 when I was 8, and wanted it because of the impression it left. I was able to buy it when I was 19. It's been our wedding car in '98, daughters grad car in 2017, and took my wife and I on a 4,000 mile round trip from Medicine Hat to Memphis in 2018. My son recently bought a 56 Town Vicky too. These days, WHO CARES if it has four doors...build (or buy) a cool old car and DRIVE IT!

There are some car designs that really work well as a 4 door sedan, and this era of Hudson is definitely one of them. I really don't like them any less than the coupe or Brougham. '56 Victoria 4 door also a favorite.
