Tagman.......Why do you want your alternator sitting that high in front ? The whole engine would look better if you mount it lower and to the side, and it would solve your contact area problem as well. It just looks odd sticking up like that. :)

    This is a small illustration/list..
Just for Reference and understanding because I'm not a good communicator look at all the different specs on these alternators how much amps they put out at idle , pulley ratios , Charge wire size and also starters for how much compression engine has which starter do you use.
I think a lot of this information will kind of shock or change your way of thinking.

  3. I failed to mention, I did not have an engine-driven fan, I ran an electric. I can't imagine trying to spin a fan and water pump with almost zero belt contact.

Just working now with what came with car. I'm mocking up a different adjusting arm that will allow the alternator to lay over to the valve cover more and see if that works. If not, I'll start over from scratch.

    Thanks for all your inputs!

  6. Hahaha, love this. I always tell my wife, when she doesn't understand something I am trying to explain to her, that I will repeat my explanation one more time only LOUDER, maybe then she'll get it. Based on my confession, I believe that I too may not be a good communicator :D
