If it was mine I’d leave the roof as is and rub it with some Gibbs Oil and the clear satin or flat. It is so cool and in my opinion would be the highlight of the car. Again if it was mine I’d do some good body work and paint everything but the roof candy red or green .
    Cool cool cool

IMG_3723.jpeg Yep get it running, do you plan on rebuilding and getting the flathead running sure would be cool in the Mercs stable mate.

I for one am seeing a vision from 1958 when one would have combined those two old cars and made one *****in '47 Merc powered, Merc braked, 2 spd. rear ended model A coupe chopped with a Coke sign roof insert

I maybe rushing things gathering more parts than might be needed. But a friend sent me a FB marketplace ad yesterday about a 1946-48 ford front seat . I was riding along with one of my SIL’s to Durant OK . He wanted to go to a gun shop there . The seat was at Okumlgee . We stopped there way home to look at it . I bought it and it fit into his car . So I now have 2 front seats . If I can’t find a rear seat I’ll cut one down and make a rear seat out of it.

  14. I would miss the original to you paint that makes the merc a standout from my point of view. Maybe a blanket on the new seat will keep the theme and let you enjoy the relative comfort of the “new” seat. Just thinking out loud …

I enjoy weathered paint so the paint color probably won’t change lol . A Mexican blanket or a cow hide will cover the seat

  17. That seat is the best, build the rest of interior around that.

I’m feeling a patriotic theme here . Red ( exterior) White and Blue ( seat color)

I've been looking on the internet and other sites trying to figure out which stock cast iron exhaust manifolds to use . Any suggestions ? 302 sbf in a 1946-48 Merc or Ford . Iron Trap has a 302 in a 1946 Ford sedan but they aren't sure what the manifolds are . The engine came out of a salvage yard shed . Those look early Mustang but I've been told that late 70's F150 manifolds have a larger outlet id . Any suggestions will be apricated
