Hi everyone, I’m trying to fix an official registration issue on my 1956 Ford Victoria 2dr Hardtop in Turkey Problem: On the car, the first character of the serial/VIN is clearly “U”, but in the registration book it was entered as “11” (two ones). So it’s basically: U6SV**X (on the car) vs 116SV**X (in the registration) What I need: I took the car for an official inspection (Makine Kimya / MKE) and they told me there should also be a stamped number on the ch***is/frame, and it needs to be found and verified before they can correct the paperwork. Question: For a 1956 Ford p***enger car / Victoria hardtop, where exactly should I look for the factory-stamped serial/VIN on the frame/ch***is? Any guidance on typical locations and how to reveal it (paint removal, light sanding, chalk rubbing) would be appreciated.
Look on the top of the frame rail, on the p***enger side, under the hood, near the front of the frame. Also on top of the rear frame crossmember, but you probably have to raise the body off the frame to see it. Good luck...
Not sure 56’s are the same but my 57 has it on the right side top frame rail, just ahead of the firewall.
This on my '54 and should be in the same area on your '56. Top of the frame rail, p***enger side, right in the corner where the p*** inner fender meets the radiator support........
Maybe you can find some do***entation that tells how serial numbers were "organized" on that year and model and show them that the factory did not issue any serial numbers starting with 11. That should show any reasonable person that the problem was simply a mistake by the license bureau itself.
