I have a merc that I would like to fit with 60 Chrysler tail lights. I have had a couple of different thoughts on how to do it. I wonder if anyone here has done it and if so, maybe you could share some pictures. thank you.

I saw what this set-up on a 50 Merc and didn't really like it due to the fact that the rear of the Merc is somewhat rounded and the guy had the taillights mounted with-in the rounded surface. The taillight sort of chop up the rounded surface of the rear of the Merc and broken up a otherwise clean surface. This is only my view on the subject and as a cop once told my girlfriend, "don't listen to this guy, he will only get you into trouble" (I talk her into driving her fathers ice cream truck with bells and lights through a cemetery).

I would never attempt 60 chrysler tail lights on a 49-50, a d I may even be dissuaded from trying on a 51. But I need to know. About the ice cream truck and the cemetary,,,,that would depend d heavily on the weather I think....

  5. I’d start with a wire frame with the taillight shape tacked together.
Then start fitting that to the Merc qtr
You can lay out the flow that way

That would be a safe start, and room to stand back and scrutinize the lines.

I don't ever recall seeing a 51 Mercury with 60 boomerangs.....but have seen several with 56 Packards, which have a close look. This includes Bill Holzhause's Dragon Lady.

I think the Chrysler can work if you built up a tail fin, maybe rotate the lens a little to keep a clean line. I am biased as that how the 60 Chryslers are set in the tail of Taboo. IMG_9888%20(Copy)-min.jpg IMG_9920%20(Copy)-min.jpg
