It will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I'm finally able to move around pretty well without pain.
Hopefully will be taking it to have the transmission checked out in the next week or two:cool:

  3. Just be careful doing that; don't want to jeopardize the mending process. Coming from guy who had a total shoulder replacement 7 weeks ago. Minimal pain, but limited as far as working on stuff.

The project looks great. Do not push yourself but stay in your comfort zone. If it hurts you are going to your limits. Pay attention to your body. We all want to see it progress.

Getting better and can start working on the car a bit more next week
Did enough this week to confirm the issues with the transmission are beyond my abilities so the Rambler will be going to a local transmission shop Monday for a diagnostic and estimate, probably a rebuild.

Decided it was time to see what the Spinner Wheel Covers look like with the dirt and road tar cleansed off. Should be fine for the semi-survivor look I'm going for.

Well, it took a bit longer than planned but the transmission is done, and the care came home Monday 12/8
The 7-mile trip was all the test-drive it will get until spring. all the strange noises seem to be gone.
Will get started on some minor items as time permits

Winter is full on in Minnesota and the work on the Rambler is getting going
Backup light lens was removed to check the bulb, leading to a need for a new gasket. this also confirmed the problem was not the bulb. Suspect the Neutral Safety switch is bad.
It also allows the car to start in any gear so i think i will order a new one
Door locks did not work. The p***engers lock just needed some lubrication and now works. The driver's side will need some more involved repairs or replacement.
While the door was apart, I reglued the side of the cover.

I now have a pair of functional Locks, .... so, I've got that going for me
    Which is nice.

Waiting for parts so decided to see how bad the rust I saw in the trunk floor is.
Should be an easy fix with homemade patch panels

    Practically rust-free by Minnesota/Wisconsin standards.

Moved on to the dash cluster area, things were really loose, especially the ignition key area
5 screws, some new foam and a nut and it is very solid.
The ignition switch was basically held in place by the wires, found the mounting tab after removing the ash tray
Seems a PO had it apart and didn't quite get back together all the way

The trunk springs did hold the lid open, short term a piece of 1 by was cut to length. Further investigation revealed the right side was severely damaged. The left side was black and obviously not original. got a replacement (in blue) for the right side and painted them to fairly closely match. Will line up some help to remount the lid but moving on to some other items.
I am baffled as to how the damage would have happened, but at this point it is not important:rolleyes:.
