Hi Folks, just a little fun from something I wrote a while back. Real Hot Rodders · Think $2700 for a set of rims is stupid (Kinda dated now, huh?) · Know their cam specs. (but don’t just tell anybody). · Almost always install parts while they are still wet, so they can make a ‘Test Drive’. · Get irritated when someone calls their car cute. · Nickel plate parts so they won’t rust. Example: Patton would get pissed when someone called his pistol ‘Pearl Handled’. “It’s IVORY! For grip!” · Have more brackets on their wall than on the car. “I never have to re-do anything”. · Are allergic to fibergl***. · Can’t wait to put the race motor back in. · See a part in the magazine and build it. · Agree with Bill Burnam most of the time, (Old reference). · Felt bad when Drag Racing Magazine folded. (obviously Old reference). Now: R&C, Street Rodder, Rod Action, Rodder’s Digest, Car Craft, etc. TRJ for a while. · Sage: “Take-off on Blues Bros”, “Fast?”-“Yep’. “How?”-“Tens”. “No”- “Yep”. (Another old reference). · Dummy: Someone who asks a guy with a quickchange “What ratio is it?”. A Real Hot Rod · 1,000 pound car, 800 pounds engine. · If stolen would end up on it’s top within two miles/ No…Blocks, from where it was pinched. · A car that every time you get a chance to drive scares the **** out of you. “Gawd Damn!” · A car that HAS to have the tires screwed to the rims. · A car with no interior. · A car made up entirely from used parts. · Cars that go RUMP in the night. · A car that if any part was removed would not go. [Ok, Doors, if ya got ‘em]. · Uses grade 8 bolts, not because they look neat. · The only wiring is from the Mag to the kill switch. · Thom Taylor never drew it, but maybe Dave Bell Did! · Doesn’t have ‘Armor All’ Tires. · Wasn’t built in hopes of a magazine article. · Doesn’t really have to be a stick, does it? “Let the arguments fly!”, To quote the late Pat Ganhl. · Doesn’t have a five-way harness in the p***enger seat, if it has one at all. · Won’t be for sale anytime soon. [Going on 46 years]. · Unintentional compliment: Tim Bradley,” You go fast in that?” First time seeing my Coupe. Bob
I fall under the see it and build it tool section. Home built tubing bender (that works awesome), tubing notcher, shrinker/stretcher foot pedal stand, heavily modded powered HF bead roller, and the list goes on. My son said I have as much time building tools for working on my model A as I have time actually working on the car itself. He's right.... ...
