I like how you guys are encouraging me to spend my money! My wife, on the other hand, isn't quite as pleased about it. LOL

I got a text from @Crocodile this morning offering to loan me a set of the F150 wheels indefinitely, with the condition that if I ever take them off the car, he gets them back. Should have them in my possession mid month November.

Last week, @Crocodile was down in SWMO and came over to Springfield with @povertyflats to have some Burrito Enchilada Style at Mexican Villa, and to swap some slot mags.

The top wheels were on my high school hot rod '54 F100. Way too wide for anything I'll ever own at 15x10 and 15x8.5.

The lower wheels are what I traded for. I'm going to have them media blasted tomorrow so they all match better and get them on the convertible in the near future for a change of at***ude.

Lyle probably shouldn't have trusted me to clean up the wheels. I dropped them off to have them media blasted and will more than likely run 'em raw, as it fits the overall look of the 'vert.

Looking forward to having the tire shop swap the tires off the steelies and onto these.

Is it an optical illusion or do those things have a whole lotta backspace?

With a straight edge across the back of the wheel, it measures 4" to the wheel mounting surface. I had never measured that on the previous set I had. I guess that explains why the front tires didn't rub when I tried that set on my stake truck. 20151113_112612.jpg

I'm surprised they are not on the car yet!

Yes, I am looking forward to putting them on the car, but since I am too cheap to buy a new set of tires, I will have to find an opportunity to drive the car over to the tire shop with the wheels and have them do the swap while I wait.

When I was doing the "quick rewire" on the convertible, I had reused some of the existing wiring from the firewall to the brake switch and tail lamps, and decided I wanted to change the turn signal switch to one of the ones with built in hazard lights.

Apparently one of the brake wires had a worn spot that was occasionally popping fuses, so since we've had 70+ degree days this week, I put the car up on jack stands and ran new wires to the bright side of the tail lamps and changed out the turn signal switch to one of the ugly chrome Chinese switches.

I got the tail lamps to work, but ran out of time to run new wires to the front. That's when I discovered I didn't like the results. With the "blue" wire connected to the switch, the switch constantly "flashed" in the off position on the indicator light. When I disconnected the blue wire, the tail lamps would not flash. This was with a flasher that was supposedly specifically for LED lights. This situation would have required me to wire it to the switched side of the board, which defeats the purpose of the Hazard Light function.

After sleeping on the issue and quite a bit of pondering, I surmised that the issue was the incandescent bulb in the switch was giving the flasher what it needed to do it's job, and when I disconnected it, the tail lamps didn't have enough resistance to trigger the flasher. I decided to pull the car out into the 78 degree afternoon sunlight and wire up the front turn signals. BINGO!!!

Once I had the incandescent lamps in the front flashing, I had enough resistance that I could remove the blue wire from use and made everything work as it should. Then I moved it over to the constant power side of the board and called it a day. I'm not going to reconnect the indicator wire to the flasher to see how it would behave, but I would imagine it would want to drain the battery.
