Drilling four-bolt mains for our Chrysler 354. 1) Taking the position for the holes with the caps on. 2) Replacing the cap with a sacrificial steel plate 3) Making a flat surface to start the drill. 4) Drilling and tapping. 5) Rounding off the thread start with a full radius mill. 6) Finished with the ARP stud.

Thanks! Yes, it's a FP3 and a FP4 in the background. I'm retired but still have access to the shop, my brother and I are doing a little hobby work in the evenings.

I'm working on an Edsel. It's not running right. I'm grasping at straws now, I guess I really need to test the fuel pump, it's about the only thing left, but it doesn't act quite like that's it.

Helped a buddy locate and purchase a 32 Ford pickup he put together in 1977. No chop, 8" channel, 301 SBC, turbo 350 and Ford 9". With the 8" channel and him coming up on 70, it will be entertaining watching him get in and out of it. Has the same paint on it from way back and has held up remarkably well. IMG_4153.JPG

Got to revisit the 62 Impala SS with the pedal problem. Got the correct 62 pedals in and the correct bell crank. We now have a clutch that can be operated with one leg. Still need to get the car on the road to test the brakes.

Looks great, Johnny. Just remember to put the nut on the line before flaring. We've all been through that one!

Finding odd and end jobs setting around the shop. This afternoon I went after this replacement alternator bracket for one of the 409 projects that must have slipped through quality control. I cut the weld and put more bend in the bracket so now the belt will line up. Feels good not being under a deadline at this time in my life. Let's see what I can find next.

  27. I've got to clean up my work bench and everywhere else in the garage for that matter. It's not (just) that I'm lazy, but by trying to tidy up will screw with knowing where I've put something down. The aftermath of a re-organization becomes an exercise in "where did I put that now?"

Bought a nice Hurst shifter body here on the HAMB, married it up with a mish mash of a mounting plate, rods and arms left over from selling so many i can't remember! Now when I need one I wish I had saved a couple. All good, sometime soon im going to gather up all the leftovers and sell 'em off.

  30. @chevy57dude , not very often I get to see pictures of what somebody was working on while I was talking to them on the phone! :D

That is one TALL shifter in the 2nd picture....I would for sure break that ****er off in Stubby.

Question : Back in the day there were two inline shifters one was called a Vertigate & I can't remember the name of the other. One made by Hurst, the other by Mr Gasket.

    God Bless & Merry Christmas
