  1. in other news, i dropped the 57 off at the exhaust shop for the second time, a much more well renowend shop. only realized after i go there that i forgot my phone, so no pics of it. Mike and my dad go way back, so i know he does an excellent job.

  2. i completely forgot to post an update, the good news? the truck is mine, haven't picked it up yet, but i own it.

the exhaust sounds phenomenal. however, on the way home i may have roached the axle(for good this time!) , it makes unhappy whines, yes it has oil. seems i need to get some 31 spline cut to fits and drop a 3.55 limited slip center section in.

i did manage to fix the oil leak finally, I made a nice thick cork gasket for all parts of the road draft tube and coated a LOT of shellac all over it. hasnt leaked since! even in 11 degree weather the car starts like a charm with the 12 degrees of advance. she sounds mean, havent moved her in about a month.

worked on fixing up a spare car for winter in case my now 30 year old daily driver bit the dust at any point, good thing i did, hit a pothole today now my drivers side ball joint squeaks and whines. the five Ps coming in handy yet again.

i will need to read through a prior post here and check, i might need to have the rotating ***embly balanced as im pairing it to a manual transmission and using a new aluminum flywheel as FEs arent "internally balanced".

    other than that, merry christmas!

Unless my memory is broken, only the 428/410 were externally balanced, 390 and smaller were neutral balanced.

Got burned once when I took a job to install a 390 in a pickup. Pulled the 360, dropped in the '390', fired it up and is shook all over! He had bought a 428 unbeknownst to him. So I got to pull the trans and replace the 360 flywheel with one from a 428. That was a hard used item to find. standard shift 428s were rare in salvage yards.
