I love this 40 and I just finished reading the article on it in the new TRJ #87 and now I love it even more. Andy drives the wheels off this thing and its been all over the US. So cool.

In post 10010 is that a Ford rumble seat or custom made? First one I've seen on a 39.

Yes, that is a stock Ford rumble seat. '39 convertibles were the last year/model for a rumble seat.

I’ve always thought that a 39 convertible, with its more attractive top, needed a real trunk like a 40.
I’ve only seen one under construction with a 40 rear half being grafted on. It was *****in’!
Anybody have any pics of one? I think Wescott made such a creature in f’gl*** at one time.

A friend of mine had a 1939 convertible several years ago and Steve Frisbie ( Steve's Auto Restoration) or one of his employee's kept bugging him to sell it. He finally did and Steve built it for a customer. The customer's dad was paying for the build and bailed on it because of the cost. It was on display at the Portland Roadster Show several years in a row along with other project cars in his display.
I was told by Shawn who worked for Frisbie that they grafted the rear of a 40 convertible to it to get the trunk.

Yes, Wescott shows rumble seat or trunk versions for their '39 convertible body. http://www.wescottsauto.com/Bodies/1939-40ConvertibleBody.pdf
