I've been tied up with fall yard maintenance and getting ready for Thanksgiving so not much progress to show. I have been able to sneak in a few minutes here and there. It's kinda nice being at a point where there are small things to do.

I shot two coats of clear in the trunk to seal the trunk paint and installed the floor drains with some seam sealer.

I hung a few things on the engine. Grounds, Weiand water pump, t-stat, and transmission dipstick. Rounded up and painted a water pump pulley.

Nice, where did you get the carb gaskets?

Simply SBC eye candy, some get it....some dont!
I've gotten so "fumble fingered" it scares me when I see an open intake, even for a minute.

Sure has come a long way. Keep pluggin' away at it @Stock Racer! That three-two-seven is looking sublime! Nice work!

Thanks! Only a Cl*** Racer would have noticed that, lol. Felpro, here is a pic of the part number.

For those wondering... NHRA allows two carb gaskets in Stock Eliminator. We like to push every rule so we use two thick gaskets (heat isolators) to get a little more intake manifold ;)

I'm right there with you and I have hand tremors on top of it. I used the base gasket as a template to cut out a piece of cardboard. The gaskets and nuts are on loose to hold it in place. Also found a plastic plug for the distributor hole.

Spent the week cleaning up the floor where the plates for the roll bar were installed and repainted the suspension upgrades.

Looking good Joe. What did you use for steel to make the front lower control arm mounts?

    Thanks.

We ordered a 1' length of this and cut it for our needs. 3x3 box wouldn't quite make it.

Rear suspension is looking good. Where you going to use a 1’ piece of 3x4 rectangle tubing?

    Thanks.

That material became the rear lower control arm front mount visible in the fourth picture in post 491.

Been busy with the Holidays but I try to find an hour here and there to spend in the shop.

The original rag joint was probably done anyway but we finished it off when we raised the body to install the body mounts without disconnecting it. I got a OER kit from Summit that wasn't quite right. Changed out the bolts and added lock nuts and I think it'll work.

Started digging through my parts stash. Pulled out these Headers I traded for and my Race Car is donating it's spare starter to the cause. I sent the Headers out and had them blasted.

Love your lower arm braces,, just finished doing poly bushings and added the 4th arm, new stainless brake lines front to back, dual reservoir master cyl, brakes, brake lines, etc. Picking up nyloc nuts for all the arms tomorrow, finishing up line lock. You do really clean work sir, great restoration for sure, lots of detail and very sanitary. T IMG_8058.jpg IMG_8058.jpg hank you for the driveshaft advice.

Happened to stumble on your post while reading the 62 Jr Stocker build thread of "Stock Racer",,,, your right, Cal and Mary Ann are legends in the stocker world, met them one year when I was running O/S at the US Nationals,,, great people, a guy I know owns and races his old 66 Biscayne wagon in R/S today. I think Cal is over 80 YO today, still races some I've heard.

Thanks! I just wish my car was as nice as yours when I started.

Sounds like you're doing it right. Do you have a build thread? If not, hope you start one so we can follow along.

You started with a body with floors! You’re already miles ahead…

The car is far from cherry, been rusty and mudded in several areas 20 plus years ago,,, one floor pan 25 years ago,, etc, but it's fairly solid and complete. Not worth going thru a total resto,, I'm done going down that path. Just happy and kinda excited just to throw it together, see if it will qualify, possibly run a division race or two, mostly interested in some Nostalgia style events, bracket races,, just having fun, nothing serious. Learning lots of info about these X frames, new to me, THANK YOU to all that have offered advice and real world ideas on these "Jr Stocker" era cars, another time and place that had to be the peak of having fun drag racing those days. I love all the stories and vehicles put on the strip back then.

I got the Headers painted. I gave the Eastwood internal exhaust coating a try but I'm a little skeptical, it was thin like water. A local powder coater cured the paint. They were about an inch too long to fit in our oven, lol.
