Thank you for the tip Marty! I do have some silicone bronze rod, have to see if I have 1/16 tungsten, I think I do. I will show the results.

  2. Marty, that 6 port merge collector looks like the pieces I get from Chris at S.P.D. Nice job!

Any tips on silicone bronze tig, Marty? I’ve got some small tungstens and a new gas lens. Argon or ???

What about flux on the mating surface? And machine settings? Just like steel, or something else? Enquiring minds want to know…

I have had good luck using silicon bronze MIG wire to weld on a pair of Deuce coupe quarter panels with minimum distortion.

Not sure that would p*** airframe muster, but the small diameter Mig wire made it easy to make welds with minimum heat and minimum filler wire.

They do fit just have to work on the flats. I do have some ideas for that too.

Thank you Marty for your suggestions and I may take you up on that left over stainless when you are done. I am making 4.5 inch stacks so I am thinking I will need about 38 inches if you have that much left. But ideally I would like to make 7 inch ones.

Wow, that picture of your 2 toys blew me away. Time to think about paint for the rail, but do love polished aluminum ( a job to keep you busy ). Better you start another fantastic build.

I stopped in at Chris Kopp's shop to see how the body was coming. Since the plan is to Run/Show it in bare metal, he is carefully filing the tail, and the rest. I really like the way the tail goes from smooth radius at the top and develops into a peak, that carries to the bottom. After he runs the offset in the belly pans, they will be mounted, and it's on to the canopy. IMG_1956.jpg IMG_1957.jpg IMG_1961.jpg IMG_1951.jpg IMG_1950.jpg IMG_1952.jpg

Does the pit bike stay with the rail? Guess with that beautiful body should not call it a rail.

You're obviously not from Portland, or this area. Even Portland Transmission puts "Portland ******" on their baseball caps. And for many decades we've always called it that.

  23. Someone always seems to need to make something out of Nothing. It's the fricking Name of a business not an iden***y. It has been long before Those became a public issue. Stay on track here fellas. It's a Hot Rod sight, get over it.

Why quote me? I sure wasn't making the issue of it.

I have been busy renovating a wing on my shop to house my COE for the final steps on that project and will get it done this Winter. Meanwhile, I brought the dragster ch***is home to tie up all the loose ends, while Chris m***ages the body panels. One of the things needed was to make tie rod clearance at the wishbones, and a drag link. I ordered some pipes mandrel bent for the exhaust, so it's coming along. We will be displaying in bare metal at the GNRS in building 4, hope to see some of you there !
