Dad ( 91 years old ) has his house and one car, 1971 Pontiac insured through Statefarm. He has received a letter stating they are going to partner with Hagerty now for Cl***ic cars. It seemed high at $190 for six months. The car moves once or twice a year when me or my brother take it out to exercise it. Has anyone else seen this or dealt with it yet?
That's about what I pay through Farmers cl***ic insurer, JC Taylor. Haggerty wanted over 500 for a year.
I bought a 1950 Oldsmobile recently and went into my State Farm agent to insure it and they wrote it up with Hagerty for $123 a year for full coverage.
Can you still get Hagerty without going through State Farm? I am currently at war with State Farm due to them changing what I owed without telling me and then dunning me for not paying it.
A few years ago, the State farm agent offered me a Hagerty.I explained to her that you can't daily drive on their policy. End of discussion.
State Farm partnered with them to enlarge their service base for the cl***ic insurance. You go through State Farm and they use Hagerty for their service networks.
I have several ot collector cars licensed in Michigan with State Farm collector/ antique insurance. We also have a seasonal house in Tucson (who the hell can live in Tucson, or anywhere south of Chicago in the summer?) where I bought, licensed and insured another “collector car”. My local State Farm agent here told me that Hagerty had taken over historical / collector vehicle insurance from State Farm. Thus, my Arizona car has Hagerty, administered by my SF agent. I asked my Michigan agent about the Hagerty relationship, and he had never heard of it. That was last summer. I suspect SF has partnered with Hagerty since Hagerty has a pretty good database with old cars, while they are a pimple on SF’s ****. Probably cheaper and more profitable to partner.
Looks like the Hagerty partnership is only available if you upgrade to the cl***ic +? it doesn’t show listed as available in Michigan yet. Probably why he hasn’t heard of it.
My '54 is insured through Hagerty with a stated value. I pay $103 per year for full coverage. According to the policy I'm only allowed to drive 500 miles per year although I drive much more than that. Tell them you drive less that 500 miles per year cuz it sounds like you do. Don't know how they could check that as my odometer is disabled. Had the exact same coverage on my roadster and drove waaay more than 500 miles a year. No speedometer in that at all. They never asked about mileage and I had Hagerty for 7 years. That one was stated value too, $106 per year with the same 500 mile restriction.
I have State Farm insurance and when I put insurance on the 60 Bonneville they gave me a Hagerty policy. In my neck of the woods State Farm cl***ic car insurance been gone about 5 years now.
I pay $130/year with Hagerty on my 50 Buick. No mileage limits, and I am not a State Farm customer. Granted, my stated value is fairly low for a "collector" car.
Thanks for the information, we got it figured out and the car is insured. They just moved what he had to Hagerty, dad is 92 and not driving anymore. My brother and I still give him rides, but getting over the roll bar is getting harder for him. His rate is high due to his age, above 70 it jumps up.
Just checked with my Hagerty rep and they are not merging, he states Hagerty is an independent insurance co that others contract through. If State Farm wants to contract they can they can do that but there is no merger.
