@lumpy 63 - looks like it belongs there. In that 2500 lb car, it ought to scoot!

If the parts come in next week, I get to replace the turbo on this 100_1236.JPG
Its down there on the right side under the two big hoses.
100_1235.JPG Its been 20 years since I've replaced an on the car turbo... Wish me luck!
This one started loosing the bearings and has ****ed down almost 3 quarts of oil in 100 miles! Was still running, so hopefully we didn't kill the exhaust manifold.

He piloted a boat from Florida to New York and bought this thing in Ithica....had been sitting 10 years . He got it running and drove it to Ca..5 flat tires and at one point it quit running. But he found when he wiggled the distributor it would run. So he hammered a wood block under the distributor and made it to San Diego:D We pulled the distributor and it was junk.. had about .375 end play and points were fried. Metal shavings inside housing from non existent bushings. I found another distributor and now he is driving to New Mexico:cool: BTW. Its a 292

  8. Picture #1....Rebuilding After The Crash:eek:

I bought this 1/18th scale model of Laura's Christmas Present off Ebay with the idea of putting the keys
in the interior of the model since the hardtop lifts off, wrap it up for her to open & have the actual car sitting in the front yard or in the driveway (depending on weather), but I didn't think I would have to fix the model first! LOL Delivery guy must have played football with it.

Got the Marlin running after having it sit for 5 years. pumped the bad, dirty gas out of it. Luckily the previous owner put an electric fuel pump on it. Replaced both fuel filters, added 5 gallons of premium & a battery...It fired right up, so I went out in the street & did the obligatory burnout.:D After Christmas I will yank the interior out of it, fix a few spots on the floor & put in the new carpet. Lots of "HillBilly" wiring & lines to fix as well.

    God Bless & Merry Christmas
    Bill

I'm 10 miles from Ithaca... with all the salt that they use on roads here it's a wonder that Suburban didn't break in half on that trip!

Well, my replacement turbo in my wife's PT is going about how I expected. I started on it yesterday after noon. Quit around 6 pm. Started back at it at 9 am this morning, with some help from my son. He left at 1pm, I went in the house at 6 pm. All morning was taken up just changing the oil feed tube, what a poor design! Most of the turbo change is now completed, I have a few hoses to still hook up. Then I need to change the valve cover gasket (it looks like it is also going to be a project of its own). Then I can install the intake with the new gaskets (removing it made the turbo swap easier, and gave me access to replacing the OEM 2004 valve cover gasket. Then I can find out how many leaks I have...
I'm off of it until after Christmas, probably will be back at it over the weekend. Here is another one of those projects I don't think I will be doing again. That list is getting pretty long.

20251225_143034.jpg It seems to be a holiday tradition for me to build sbc's on Thanksgiving and Christmas...always while cooking at the same time, today was ribs and a pork roast on the smoker.

After the transmission quit in my plow truck I had to dig out a running 4wd from inventory this afternoon, it was alot of shoveling. Now to swap the plow over.

I just know you are all concerned about my PTs turbo replacement project. Success! My son stopped over at 9:30 this morning, and we both were at it nonstop until 4 pm.
My wife is excited to get her car back. My son and I are excited we don't have to work on it.
