Technical What is this tool used for?

    We found this in an old toolbox. No one so far knows what it is for.

    I did a quick search with that number 6086 and added a bit more information as to the curved tip. Its not a Klein tool number for pliers, but this link does show a lot of needle nose pliers with curved tips.

    From what I can tell just from looking at the pictures you have posted, the pliers you found, potentially are for centering a roll pin on a distributor shaft, potentially on a British engine, and in my estimation, it appears that the pliers you found, were altered from the original design by some clever individual!
    But that is just a wild *** guess at best, everyone's results may vary greatly!

    It will be interesting to see what the learned HAMB detectives come up with, as to a proper identification!

    BMW made aircraft engines and motorcycles as well as cars and that tool looks pretty old, so what for?

    I know it’s not-but looks like a pair I just bought to pop the exhaust hanger rubber out of it bracket hole.

    I don't see what identifies it as a BMW tool, neither with the one in the ebay ad.
