This was my first car, back in 1965, but mine was a clapped out rust bucket that I paid with $40 for. I wouldn't have ever started but I was a 15 year old with stars in my eyes. After 1.5 years, it wasn't a bad ride. I did the bodywork and paint, my dad helped with the mechanicals, and my mom did the interior. I was a proud 17 year old when I first drove it to high school!

I hope you leave the chrome windsplits on, I hate when people remove them. I had the trim rings and hubcaps but left them off. The look in the 60s was narrow whitewalls, black wheels and no caps.

Mom made my headliner from short white fur. There were no wrinkles in it, and I'm just lately appreciating her skills, RIP Mom.

Thanks for the memories, I haven't looked over the hood of a '51 for 60 years!

Old paint that was faded but then buffed sometimes takes on a really cool glow effect that you can't really replicate, this one looks like it has a bit of that. Looks good.

I’ve been on a quest for a set of hubcaps for the rascal and scored a few sets of them. I got a set of Oldsmobile caps from eBay and scored a slew of really nice ‘53 Caddies that I’m gonna use on my convertible. I tried the Cadillac caps on but when it came time to put the Olds on the rims aren’t deep enough, so now I’m going to have to find a 6” rim for both cars :oops::mad:

    So here’s the Cadillac cap I really like….. IMG_3920.jpeg

And here’s the Oldsmobiles I want to run on it….. IMG_3884.jpeg

Haha I have the same olds caps I tried to put them on and they wouldn’t fit. I was super disappointed but put on my other set of olds caps and they worked fine.I also have 2 sets of the factory outter caps that go over the dog dishes these 53 Ford caps and a set of 55 Caddy caps the 2 favorite sets are too deep IMG_7796.jpeg IMG_7800.jpeg IMG_7801.jpeg IMG_0639.jpeg IMG_0637.jpeg

I’m gonna have to score a set of wheels off of a 56 and up Ford that are 6” wide. Hopefully the offset will work out so I can use the hubcaps I like

I’m fixing to make a few calls and see if I can score some wheels so I can put them on. I’m not to hip in swapping the tires out because I don’t want to scuff the white walls but I can take my time and be careful with them.

Something to keep in mind, stock ford rims may or may not clear the disc brakes. The vintique wheels probably will. My 32 was my dads hod rod from the late 50’s

Ooo thanks for reminding me about that, I have a buddy that has a 56 that has a spare rim laying around so I’m gonna try it out for brake clearance after I see if the caps go on all the way
