    Hello,

As 20 somethings in our photo journeys, we had plenty of business cards to hand out to prospective clients. Mostly with hot rods and custom motorcycles, but others that had favorite pets and of course, children. So, they all got the standard cards that we had printed 1000s.

The last ones still in existence, sitting in a drawer... the old water spots still soaked in the corner.

But, for the original print out, there were plenty of blank back ones still in a stack. So, I had made a stamp to print on each one. Now, I took those blank back cards and started my holiday projects when I sent out Christmas cards.

I borrowed a cookie mold from my wife’s drawer. I drew out the standard cookie tree outline. Then, I made a block of linoleum cut to the tree design. We had cutting tools and they made a nice gouge in the smooth surface. When inked, the smaller design came out, a green tree outline. When I added a second color inside of the outer rim, it now became a two color print on the back of the white/beige business cards.

All of the work was done in our special room converted to a dark room. It even had a nice ventilation window for between work air and running water. (still light tight) The table had protection for custom detailed work or photo trays/developer along with a nice 4x5 enlarger. The enlarger was a hopeful future as adapters were used to create 35 mm prints and 2.25 versions, too. 4x5? A possible future item in the works.

Those hand printed cards lasted for several years. No commercial cards, as these seem to give more meaning… It was a little extra work to set up and carve the design, but well worth the effort...YRMV

    Hello,

When the due day was over in a flash, last night, the big guy is out for a drive one last time. His 1932 Roadster Pickup is of course, painted red. But, as he is cruising around, thousands of things to do pop up. No holiday on the white sand beaches as yet. Songs like “Little St. Nick” by the Beach Boys still ringing in the ears, makes it all come back through history.

An additional covered trailer to protect one last item for his own home in the cold north.

The hot rod travel show finishing spreading the spirit to the others still “not getting the picture…”

But, while we all relax around the tree and decide which presents to open at first crack of dawn, have a safe and sane holiday time. And of course, YRMV wherever you are…
