Technical Bone stock 1942 to 1948 front spring shackle angle

    Before anyone starts with "everything's at 45 degrees", does anyone have pictures and firsthand knowledge of the stock front suspension on '42 through '48 Ford and Mercury? '42 was the first year for a stock sway bar, and I ask about the angles because the shackles hang slightly in at the bottom on both my '48 Ford and '46 Merc. I checked on the Ford Barn and only found one member who owned a '42 and he said that his shackles hang slightly in.

    That’s because they have a panhard bar holding the axle side to side. Gives a nicer ride. If there was no panhard bar, you’d need the 45 degree shackles to keep the axle centered.
