It doesn't look like much right now, but with a little work...

 

It's a Dana 60, so it's super strong. I'll never break it. And it screams Mopar. Yet it's a semi-floating Ford axle from a 1960s F100 4WD pickup truck with the 5 on 5.5" lug pattern and the Ford-sized hub... so it accommodates vintage Ford wheels. The differential is a 3.54 with limited slip. It's got only 32,000 miles on it, it's been sitting around forever. And it's just about the perfect width for my Plymouth Coupe. Stock WMS to WMS is 58". This axle is 61.25". That's only 3.25" wider, only 1.62" further outboard per side. Just enough to get a set of Firestones on Ford steelies flirting with the fender lip. Just the way I like. And a set of 9" or 10" slicks on chrome steelies actually protruding past the fender lip an inch or so. Just the way I like.

 

I've been here on Judy's farm going on 10 years. I appreciate it. So does Judy. I know how important the farm and animals are to her and I do what I can. And she knows how important this hot rodding thing is to me and does what she can.

Well... she's decided to build a workshop for me in the small pole barn behind the house. We'll be pouring a cement floor, insulating, new door, heat, 220v, etc. And then all my **** and all the tools and equipment gets moved out there.

This is gonna be great.
She says I deserve it.
I think she just wants her garage back.

 

A place to work on the hot rod where you don't have to rearrange everything, when ever a little time becomes available to work on a project is great. An amazing amount of things can move forward much faster.

It does however, tend to take away a great excuse for just sitting and dreaming...

Don't let others make how you enjoy your project become work. Sitting and dreaming (I call it planning ), is still acceptable.

My wife likes to park her car in my shop when ever she can, I enjoy the benefits of making her happy.
