    ∆ The snouts on both round back and square back spindles are the same.

    This is an old thread (with OP typically failing to post the resolution); but a good reminder to follow one of the first steps in practically any disc brake brake kits; the one that says: "replace the inner bearing race (cup) in the rotor with the one provided in the kit".

    They sent the "extra" parts for a reason; don't throw them away. I actually had to have a buddy dig his new inner races out of a dumpster.

    If you two don't mind you are both correct. If you buy one it's going to say cup on the box. Timken call them cups & cones. There are indeed places the cup running surface is called the race. To make it even more confusing, there are terms inner ring and outer ring. A cone would have an inner ring, a cage, & rollers. The running surface could be referred to as the inner race.

    I'll give you one guess who my employer is.
