I am trying to ID these motor and I got the head figured out which it's a 848 head that has 2 acorns But the block is puzzling me CON4 309 - F70IJ - 378478
i am thinking it might be a 59 block because of the CON4 309 sooo CONvery 4 (month unk) 30th day 9th year and the casting number i think i see is 378478 but it might be 3738476 because the 3's look like 8's aswell as the 6's and its hard to see due to the engine mount so its casting number is 58-62 block, i dont know fully until i undo the motor mount and get a good look i guess
F 7 01 J F means Flint 7 is July 01 is the first day of the month The J suffix makes it a 1/2 through 1 ton truck engine with 3 speed manual transmission. where it says 30 9, there will be a letter before the 30, that you have not shown in your picture, because the starter makes it hard to see. So the missing letter in the casting date is probably G? Likely cast on June 30, 1959 (CON is on every block, it means nothing as far as figuring out what engine it is) (oh, this is my 60,000th post. What fun!)
i took another look and it shows an F so that would be June cause would G be July, also i looked even hard shoving my head in more and the casting number behind the engine mount starts with 376 and it does look like it ends with 6 so it should be this i think (3764476 - Chevrolet - 58-62 - 235)
yep i think so and dont worry you made me count it like 3 times, now i got to figure out is a laundry list of ****, first is rear main seal
