  4. This is a good topic. What goes with this is the cost of really kool stainless headers. Kooks comes to mind. There's many people that build beautiful headers but unless you are doing it for yourself, it is pricey. I built dragster zoomies but nothing to brag about by today's standards. Very plain. Years ago we were proud because we tig welded. LOL.

    Wow! Nice work!
I've built a few, but only in mild steel.
I've seen some people on youtube build stainless headers, and most of those use a purge gas inside. Some don't.
The ones that used a purge, had nice looking welds inside the tube too. The ones that didn't, did not show the inside.
The mild steel headers I've built, I did not use a purge, but they were TIG welded, and I had some "sugar coating" inside, even though the gaps were tight and the outside looks ok.
Does your son use a purge when he does headers?
Below is a photo of the last header I built, circa 2012. (Intake too) It lasted 12 years before cracks started developing. Intake is still running

I got dual exhaust on my Dune Buggy, Sounds just like a V-8...with 4 cylinders not working...through a tin can..and a cat (not a converter, and actual kitty screaming in there).

These are for my roadster, S&S built, no longer in business, also bought a set and cut the f#@k out of them to fit on my 67 Nova.

    the truck has close to 36'' wheel travel..and I think I heard it's a 672 C.I.

look at the top of the coil over and you will see the bump stop

Vary hard to find a set of homemade headers anymore. Usually require a special fit for a one off installation. I just bought the parts for a stock 4 cylinder 31 Model A header and intake and the parts alone were twice what a ready made setup was. I didn't like the looks of the ready made set.
I bought a set of sbc block hugger SS headers with gaskets, bolts with collectors for $79.00 , free shipping. I'm waiting on delivery of 331 Hemi SS headers, complete for $179.00 , free shipping.
The fit and welding of these cheap headers was excellent. I guess it depends if the 10 year old Chinese kid was at the beginning or end of his 12 hour shift.

Don’t look at the dirty, grimy mess of an engine, look at the pipes. Got these from a fellow HAMB member who changed direction on his car. Fits the Whatever to a “T”…

    bad pun, I know
