Do these particular generator/alternator fan airplane have a name they go by??Were the “pieces” constructed in the 40’s—50’s;who made them??? This particular one is in a “hot rod”shop east of Austin, that is full of “rare treasures”. IMG_2769.jpeg

These days they are called an air driven generator (ADG), or a ram air turbine. I’m not sure if that’s the same name they used back then

What I posted is just a 30s/40s electric ceiling fan. You're saying that the one you posted is for wind generation?

So it's a fan, right? That would look real good at my place.

Modern jets have an air driven generator that pops out the side of the plane during an emergency, if all the other generators fail. To power the critical aircraft components.

Yeah gotcha....but I'm thinking the Op is saying that the unit in his pic has a generator/alternator in it.....and it does look like it could be.

It's not. They just happen to look similar.

Not a great photo, but this one hanging in my garage is in good working order. I see them from 3,500 to 4,500. I would see mine for 4,000 and help getting it down. IMG_5412.jpeg
