- I thought I would post a picture of my latest project. I built the truck over a 2 1/2 year time period and finished it about a year ago. This is a fantasy pickup that I have wanted to build for a long time and I finally said "Just do it". I used the following components, most of which I had on hand. '72 GMC 3/4 ton leaf spring frame, '71 Chevy cab, '67 Chevy front clip, '67 Chevy motor home Dually rear axle, '77 Chevy 1 ton front spindles, rotors, & calipers, 2003 Chevy 2500 8.1 496 engine with the Allison 1000 5 speed OD automatic transmission, & a 2001 Chevy Van Hydroboost unit. This is a work truck that doubles as my cruiser/hotrod. I love driving this thing.... Here is a link to my build thread over on the 67-72 Chevy truck web site if anyone would like to check it out.... It is pretty long. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.php?t=829820
Thanks! Using my left over parts made it a really cheap build. The bed wood is made from recycled power poles. A friend of mine has a horizontal saw mill and I finished them up with my planer and router table.....
Leon from the truck board. Good to see you. I was Tx Firefighter on that board for years. I remember meeting you at Pate swap meet about 20 years ago. I'm off to read your build thread now.
Good to hear from you. I sure do remember meeting you. Your tips and tricks threads are bumped to the top over there all the time. I havent been to Pate since then but I would like to make it back down there.
Cool truck Tic. My grandparents lived in Montezuma when I was a kid. Used to visit there in the summers late 1970's early 80's Chris
That is a beautiful truck. And I can’t wait to see it in person one of these days. Since Monty is but a skip and a jump from Lynnville, I’m sure I’ll see it out and about somewhere. How harsh is the ride with the one ton rear in the short truck?
My wife is related to the Tice family over there and Sully, and we go over to the BBQ restaurant once in a while. Small world. Hope we catch up with each other one of these days. It rides pretty good but I took a lot of leaves out of the rear springs and put a good set of shocks on it..
I have a couple square bodies and the 51 Chevy project but I do like the late 60s body styles. I’m sure we’ll meet up soon or later. But if you ever need an extra hand just give me a shout.
