So Rad Notch

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by Hot Rod Ron, May 7, 2024.

  1. Thanks to Washburn Metalworks in Orange, CA, for fixing the pan. Back in December, after pulling the body off the pan, I discovered that it was bent. Washburn has the frame fixtures to pull it straight, so they were able to install the new pan sections and duplicate the factory spot welds. I dropped it off in December while I was out in CA for the last Mooneyes Christmas party at Irwindale and picked it up while I was out for GNRS at the end of January.

Now to bolt it all back together and start the suspension mock up and fabrication.

  2. The rear apron is done, and the replacement starts on the front apron.

I know a guy over here in Germany with a 2.7 Porsche flat six in a Notch. 190hp or so pushes it along pretty well.
I always wanted a flat six in one of these or a Fastie, but the price of anything old and Porsche nowadays means it'd be financial suicide.

  5. I would love to do a 911 drivetrain in it. It's big money for a drivetrain like that. A couple around here in the States are done that way.

  6. Started on the front apron replacement. Built a jig to keep everything in line. More updates soon.

who'd a thunk when this car was new, that anyone would ever put this much work into fixing one up? :)

    looking good!

  8. The apron is welded in and finished, and most of the hammer and dollie work and sanding are done. Just about ready for body work. The jigs I made worked perfectly. More updates soon.

  14. I am putting in an upright engine instead of the pancake engine. I want it to look factory when it's all done.
