I have this heater box that I am trying to identify… the box it was packed in was marked ‘48 Ford … this doesn’t seem to match! The blower motor is a newer replacement, but the box looks to be vintage!
    It’s approximately 12x9x6”. IMG_3338.jpeg IMG_3339.jpeg IMG_3340.jpeg IMG_3341.jpeg IMG_3342.jpeg IMG_3337.jpeg

Anyone have any thoughts on its original origins???

It could have been installed in a 48 Ford...but not by Ford....

It was in my dad’s garage and he had a 48 Tudor. Not sure if it was out of his 48 or if he had picked it up at a swap meet to install, but does not look like any of the Ford heaters that come up in the search engines

It's not a Ford heater, it's an aftermarket one for "industrial" applications.

I would put it in something besides a 48 Ford! or sell it on ebay

With about a 10" x 6" heater core, if you could keep the coolant hot enough, it would be a great heater. The round holes in picture #3 would be where the tubes to connect the duct work for defrosters would be located, but for the defroster to be very efficient, there should be doors to close off most of the other vents. With out the tubes for the defroster ducts, and without closable doors over the other vent openings, this unit was specifically built for heat only.

The heater core is 10x4x2.5” and I do have the duct plate for defroster tubes and a cable operated door to control defrost/heat modes.
I was considering it for an under dash unit for a 50 Merc to mostly feed the defrosters.
