if I remember correctly the engine was a '56 324, I don't remember exactly which flywheel I used, may have been from a '55, the crank pulley was from a '50, the cam was a reground '57, lots of years worth of parts went in that one.
I chose the combination and had racefab oversee the machining, balancing and he ***embled the long block.
    that was a fun car

Thanks for the bump Joey, good to meet you as well!

Holy **** its been a year since I have made an update. I started the year off pretty strong on the '40 and well at the end of September, I got distracted, again. https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showthread.php?t=352970

I am really close to taking it for its first drive in 15 years. I hope to have it at a few local events in early spring shaking it out before the annual Georgia Tech Auto Show in April.

On the '40 itself I got the driveshaft cut down and the proper end and U-joint to match the 8' rear installed on it. Its sitting on the floor still waiting for me to come up with a rear transmission mount. I have decided to go with a single tail mount, just need some cardboard, 1/4" x 4" angle and a few hours. I am sticking with the mini-starter. If it ****s out I have kept the change over. There is just not enough room and the small starter fixes many packaging issues. Radiator is in. I had to raise it considerably to clear the mechanical fan. I didn't want to cut down the fan if I do not have to. Hoses are the next challenge, I have one in and a plan for the other. Carburetor and linkage is mostly installed. I am struggling to find space for the gas peddle with the wide hydromatic up in the floor. Alternator bracketry made and fit. Alternator belt finding was a fun adventure that is settled now. Lots of that will have to come apart for finish work but I need to stuff 15lbs in a 2lb sack and I need to know where it all will go. I have to at least rest the hood on to make sure it will all clear. If it doesn't, I will have to rethink a lot of stuff I did this year. The body is close to finished, I am waiting on a windshield header cut-out to replace what is the last bad area on the body and finish up a few places I started but pooped out on .

My oldest of those two rug rats in my avatar is off to college this year and free time has expanded but my body is arguing against heavy work. Pacing is now the word of the day. Spending 8-10 hours out there at a time is a fond memory. I have to set a timer for 3 hour chunks or Ill just keep going and need three days to recover. I'm still at it, just trickling along and still having a great time.
