Pretty short and not terribly thrilling update. Last you saw, the body is painted so that leaves the complete mocked up ch***is.

Peeled it down to the bare rails and made all the boxing plates.

I also tried to decode all the little notes I made when I was putting this pile together.

I like to weld all the crossmembers to the outer frame rail then...

    red3412-28-25-4.jpg

Weld them to the boxing plates also. Does it make it better? Hell if I know, but I like to do it that way.

FINALLY!!!! the frame is a real color. Not sure what that yellow primer **** was, but it is nice for it to be finally gone.

Next is painting some ch***is bits and making this frame a roller again.

    See ya, -Abone.

    Now officially a roller.

Before you stuff the engine and trans together, you have to center the bellhousing. Bolt up the bellhousing and stick your mag base dial indicator on the crank. Crank that ****er around a few times and note the concentricity of the hole in relation to the crank.

Then you install offset dowels for however many degrees it looks like you need.

    red341-25-16-2.jpg

This is the point where you have two choices. You can use your dial indicator and math out your hole until it is dead nuts. Or, you can spend 180 bucks on a bellhousing indicator tool from Browell. These things are a life changing event for us dudes who like three pedals. The ball bat looking part centers on the crankshaft register.

Then you install the bellhousing and try to install the doughnut ring.

Shine a flashlight inside the housing and it will tell you which way to rotate your offset dowels.

In my case I needed to go down and to the right about 7 degrees. Adjust the dowels until the doughnut ring slides right on dead nuts. When it moves in and out of the register freely, you are ready to go.

Hey, look. The little Chevvie motor still fits.

    red341-25-26-8.jpg

And, there you go. Ch***is is ready for a bit of brake and fuel plumbing then the body goes on for the last time.

    See ya, -Abone.
