Yeah, I have the same thing from drag cars, airplanes, loud music and guns....

FWIW, I have been working on a few shop things, b ut I wanna finish them before I post pics. Right now cabinet doors and drawer faces take precedence.

the saw we had at work was a different brand. what they always seem to lack is adequate clamping and real thin wimpy (flexy) base that the material lays on.... let us know how this one works

I am going to build a bench to hold this. It will be mounted flush, so that you don't have to monkey around with stuff trying to shim up the metal to match the base. That way the material can l;ay on the table flush.

A buddy of mine is trying to give me one of these. Don’t know if I really want it cuz it seems like it could be a real messy tool to use slinging cutting coolant everywhere. He doesn’t want it anymore cuz it cuts too slow for his fab business, but it might be perfect for my slow speed. Any experience with a cold cut saw?

Could a chopsaw blade be put in it ? Then you would be spraying sparks and dust everywhere. I’ve been d****** an old rain coat over my chop saw when I use it . It seems to contain the sparks

They are great. I am curious if it just needs the blade sharpened?

Tried out the new saw today. It makes a super clean accurate cut. No abrasive dust or smoke.
Here is what is left oks like after cutting 4” square tubing, 3/16 wall.

I am Going to have to have a dedicated 30A line for it though. It pops my temp 20A breaker I have set up.

One thing I forgot, Mark asked about the platform of the saw. It’s super sturdy. This thing weighs 53 lbs I believe. It’s twice the weight of my Makita chop saw.

Actually, it wasn't too bad. Of course, I lost my hearing 20 years ago, so there is that....

We just got back from a quick trip down to Dallas to pick up this nice little one owner, MCM couch for the shop office. It’s a little early, but you have to strike while the iron is hot.

Right up until the 50 mph winds on the trip back....and of course, they were head winds.

  16. They WERE rough. I was as far south as Mineral Wells on an "outing" and they had me all over the road.

I like the couch, I have a similar one in my living room. On mine, the cushion covers were a bit loose on the foam from age, so I cut up a mattress cover from the thrift store and added one layer to each foam block to tighten them up, worked really well. Was going to buy new foam blocks entirely until I priced out the material to do it.

It was owned by a lady in Dallas. She had very good taste and she took very good care of her furniture. It looks new. Pics don’t do it justice.

I may add a little foam on the lower cushions only to tighten them up a bit. They aren’t bad, but this thing is so clean….

Killer couch Chris! A million years ago I drove to Chicago to pick up a MCM couch almost identical to one we had in our house when I was in high school that had been my grandparents. The cushions were springs and cotton, and super lumpy and out of shape. I had the local upholstery shop open up the cushions and replace the guts with new foam and then sew them back up. Made all the difference. I love the couch (it's in my private office now), but Michelle does not. It's heading to the new garage office/hang out area at home....of course I have to build the garage first. LOL

Well, sounds like you need a storage facility for the couch!

Haha....if I could only get some time off from all my other projects to get one planned out. LOL Actually, plan is to finally get the new garage up and ready to start moving stuff from the office into (and running cars out of the shop of course) this year. We'll see if I pull it off.

Actually, first of the year I have closed my practice to new patients, so just finishing the active patients in treatment....which is a process, naturally. I'll be working 3 out of 4 weeks for the next several months and probably down to half time by the end of year and maybe one week a month by the middle of next year.

I haven’t been doing much worthy of posting lately. I have had a new project next door. Way cooler than cars.

We took a few days off to hang out with our new granddaughter, but Mama and I spent a few days trying to organize this giant cluster.

I am a big fan of used lateral file cabinets.
You can find them on FB Marketplace for $100 or less. They have roller bearings and are designed to hold heavy files. The welding room is about 15’2 . These cabinets are 36”, so 5 fit end to end with 2” to spare. I am going to build a top over it to hold the cold saw. It’s just up there for sizing in this pic.

Congrats on the new grandkid! They are the best. I started my day rocking the 1 year old at 6am for an hour when she got dropped off then taking the 5 year old to school in the '34. Coolest preschooler on the lot. LOL
