Hopped-Up Flathead Ford powering a Duesenberg

 

I read a story long time ago about a shop that road raced a Dusenberg with v8 power along with rebuilding/restoring cars. Could this be it?

 

It might be! This one raced at the Bridgehampton road races in 1950 and was raced by George Huntoon.

Oh, my goodness! more than just a bent axle on this one ......take note of the muffled exhaust system as required at intercity venues like Ascot etc.

1950 would be about the right time frame for the story.

 

We did indeed have a monorail system in place for the World’s Fair in 1962. It’s still in operation today.
