[IMG]HERSHEY find I couldn't walk by, something to attach the '31 Vicky doors to and build a Roadster pick up cab. Best wishes for 2026!

I saved a lot of Back Pain by constantly emptying my wallet in 2025 purchasing tons of car parts for my current build.

    Happy Holidays and Happy 2026.

Was laying in a yard, filled with water and had been spray painted red, white and blue, originally came from France fairground ride. Spent about a month getting the spray paint off with oven cleaner and wet and dry. Made the stand for it got new lights and got working, installed a couple go swap meet gauges in the dash and made a new windshield. P1130048.JPG P1130050.JPG P1130051.JPG P1130057.JPG

My SANITY……..from moving from my forever home and shop in the East Tennessee mountains to middle Tennessee down sized suburban living.
I’ve had some stressful times in my 79 years, but God always gave me the strength to deal with it.
He is still dealing with this one, but things are falling into place.

Selling the house; looking for and finally finding one with a half way doable shop; the move; the expense of improvements on the house; the pace of the bureaucracy in securing permits needed to just enlarge the existing, though too small, shop; the expense and wasted time of having three cars in storage for probably three more months. It’s been a challenging year.

But then there was this little joyous Blessing at Thanksgiving.
Our first Great Granddaughter, and named after her Grammy.
    God is good!

I saved my sanity this past year by driving my hot rods (and fixing lots of little things as they came up).

Nice! Cosmetically, a 1-year-only 57 but especially rare in a cabover.

    We're always saving some old junk, the name of our shop is the Last Chance Garage and it mostly lives up to that. Recent saves are a 1962 Studebaker Gran Turismo (factory 289 4 barrel, T10 4-speed) and last week a 1954 Triumph Tiger Cub 200 that was in the process of being converted to a trials bike and then left in storage;

All the chrome moldings and trim are in the trunk and the body has very little rust. We will get it running and driving, then find it a new home.

A few pieces are missing but it's very solid, and it kicks over and has compression. We will semi restore this one, but it will have to wait in line.

    Happy New Year!

A 301 Chevy short block. It started out as a 1957 Chevy 283. Sometime between the mid 1970's and mid 1980's it was bored to 301, with TRW standard Chevy 302 pistons and "Pink" rods. It was never run and was locked up after sitting in a garage several decades.

I bought it from an in-between owner who got it freed up and took the pistons and rods out. The original builder used good brand-new parts, but did not clean the block, before the engine was ***embled.

Additionally, the piston pins were pressed in, (which is OK), but it also had piston pin locks installed. This basically eliminated all of the side-to-side movement of the rods in the pistons.

So far, I have the pistons and rods cleaned up. All of these look brand new. The only problem is a very small ding in the top of one piston. I'm not sure if I'll use the 1957 block, though. I already have a standard bore 1963 block, which would have thicker cylinder walls. By the way, what looks like surface rust on the rods, is actually pick paint, which is what Chevrolet used to I.D. their "Pink" H.P. rods. The pistons are 12 1/2 to one 1 compression. The rings still have their paint marks on them.

The basic plan is to build a Chevy 301 and use my NOS Isky 55o Super LeGerra cam and lifters. It will also have an Edelbrock dual quad intake, new Trick Flow aluminum "Camel Hump" heads and Corvette valve covers.
