Yesterday Brenda told me she saw a '32 Ford for sale on FB so I borrowed her computer and looked it up, it seems the car is in North Carolina and is said to be a 50's hot rod.

Anyone know anything about it? HRP

JMO, but my take on it is “Sports Rod “, the theme is kinda confused to my eye. And what’s up with the cowl, was more room needed for the battery?

The dash says more 60s or later to me,two sets of tail lights, exterior trunk hinges but no latch=so odd stuff going on here. How much are they asking?

Look at the reworked quarter panels for the channel....no swage lines ,i,ve seen this done before on an old feature car? ,and the bodywork has stood the test of time .I think its a redone early car in the 60,s and a change of wheel n tyres to whitewalls and lyons caps ,youre back in the 50,s .What running gear has it got

Information avalible - 1932 Ford coupe. All steel car built in the 50’s and updated in the mid 60’s. This is a perfect east coast hot rod that you can drive anywhere. Powered by a 289 Ford and a 4 speed. Most of the drivetrain and interior was sourced from a 64-65 Falcon best I can tell. Paint is old and checked, but the car is rock solid.

Why can I only think of chiseling all that bondo off the radius and removing the rear fenders and grinding off all that bondo ? :confused:o_O:D

  10. I am going to have to go stand in the line with the corvette restorers. I too would want to restore the rear quarters, and likely couldn’t live with that landing strip on the cowl. I would have to leave this to someone else…

I think there was a thread on it not super long ago? Maybe @J.Ukrop recalls?

Id change very little before I’d cruise it. Wheels and tires, ditch the trailer hitch, trailer marker lights a s exhaust tips. Bout it!

  12. What's not to like? A near-perfect example of a channeled east coast mid-'50s rod, with mid-'50 Vette wheelcovers and cycle front fenders. Absolutely love the molded rear fenders. The SBF update isn't obvious and will be a big performance plus over the flathead it no doubt replaced, and cleaning up some details like the wonky battery tray, centering the rear wheels in the fender openings, fitting the instrument cluster a bit better, and maybe redoing/chroming the nerf bars along with fresh paint and you're there. Don't forget a set of bias-ply-look tires. Perfection!

Danny, Gabriel Burrell, owner of the Southern Flyer Model A that runs with the Southeast G***ers, has this. He was looking for info on the car, but I don't know what he found. I'm sure that he would be glad to talk about it! Oh, did you notice that it's sectioned, too!!

  15. I like it !!! It’s a clean honest example of how things were done back in the day !

nothing was perfect , we see past hot rods through “ rose coloured gl***es “

I dig it big time .

as @anthony myrick would say “ I’d drive it “
    ( even though it’s not a Dodge ) :D:D

I would center the rear wheels in the openings and call it mint !

HRP that car was down here in SC for a spell and then to its Current owner...It had keystones on it when it was last for sale..Just seems NOBODY can get back to the right person with info.... They sit a longtime and when they sell the STORY gets left behind...

It's for sale now. $31,000, I am not affiliated with the car or the owner, just curious. HRP

  19. IIRC, this one of two built is San Francisco in the 1950's. I remember seeing one of them when I lived there in the late 1950's. I looked at the car for quite a while before someone explained to me what body work had ben done. They looked sectioned from the side, but chopped from the rear, but the top is stock height, also there is no filler below the windshield. The one that I looked at was painted white, or a very light cream color. IIRC there was conversation and pictures on the HAMB about these cars a few years ago.

Here’s one of the SF area cars that was sectioned, the coupe in North Carolina doesn’t appear to be sectioned to me, only the reveal lines at the top of the quarters above the wheel wells have been eliminated for molding the fenders.
    IMG_5208.jpeg IMG_5207.jpeg
If that reveal line hadn’t been removed there would be an odd transition where the fender was molded into the quarter.
