Dave, you sure have a way of finding stuff that I'm familiar with. Post #2617 shows the Knox gas station on SW 29th in Oklahoma City. It is now a pawn shop, (circled in blue), but when I was newly graduated out of high school in Mustang, 15 miles southwest, that Knox was where a friend who worked there and I primered my '50 Ford one night after the station closed. Neither of us had ever painted anything before and had absolutely no idea that you had to use a regulator, but we managed to get the car masked off and then the fun began. We had an old Craftsman one quart gun hooked up to this giant compressor that probably had never been drained. We thinned the primer 1 to 4, loaded the gun and I started spraying. The gun was empty in about two minutes. 10 minutes later, everything on the car was painted except for one patch on the driver's door about 18 inches in diameter. I had also managed to overspray the windows, all the stock on the shelves and both of us. I'm sure the owner of the station was more than a little irritated when he opened next morning.

The area circled in yellow was where the Airline Drive-In Restaurant was located. I worked there the summer of '62 into the summer of '63. I quit when the owner wanted me to manage another drive in on the north side of OKC. His idea was for me to sleep on a cot in the back of the restaurant and be there seven days a week. I politely declined even though it meant his good-looking bow-legged daughter would be working there also.

    Thanks for the memories:)

Being a Willys owner it's cool to see the odd Willys at a Gas Station, in this case a 33 in the 3rd pic above. JW

That's a dandy looking little roadster in the background of this photo. Anybody care to take a guess at what make it is?

I had a go but came up empty, was thinking Star but no. It has something mounted on top of the front fenders and most of that era has the spare on the back. JW
