I'm about to "pull the trigger" on a set of these for my 48 Plymouth. The car has a set of DB radials on it now, that have been on it for nearly 11 years now. They still look like brand new, but due to their age, I'm replacing them. No, they're not cheap, but should last much longer than I ever will. Gonna have the wheels pinstriped per original while I'm at it too!

 

What's the size of the whitewalls? 3 or 4"?

 

"tires were inflated to specs " Does Diamond provide specs for the tires on different vehicles or just for the size of tire?

 

Have a set on my 33, 5:50x16 and 7:50x16 Auburn deluxe, great ride compared to the cokers I had on my last rod. well worth the wait to get them. no tubes and the ride is soft not the hard rubber feel of the cokers. I had the sidewalls smoothed out and they look great.

 

I just purchased a set of Auburn deluxe tires and had them fitted.
I noticed a couple of mine had bubbling at the bead where the the rim is.
What would cause this?

 

I ordered a set of 10.00-15 for my Falcon g***er build. The shoulder is nice and square.

Yes, they are radials. They make a matching front runner if you want skinnies.

I ordered a set of the Auburn Deluxe wide Whites about 10 days ago. They told me they would ship in about 2 weeks? We’ll see. They weren’t really any more expensive than the Coker’s I have see, but everyone swears they are far better. I plan on doing a review when I get them. I bought them to try on the Bourbon Run this year which is about 1200 mile round trip. Last year I had one of my front bias plies cup really bad while in Kentucky and luckily had a buddy down there that happens to have a spare set of 560/15’s he loaned me.

 

What's the deal if you want to run these on Kelseys? Do you need a tube?

EDIT: Did some research and it sounds like I'm going to have to run "Radial Tubes" and use some grommets for the valve stems. If anyone has experience with this use case I'd be interested to know more.

 

They are the Auburn Deluxe radials that Diamondback sells. I received mine in less than 2 weeks from the time I ordered.

 

Update. I received the Auburn Deluxe tires in about 2 1/2 weeks from ordering. They came well packed (wrapped) I unwrapped them and let them sit a few days before I had them mounted. I measured the cross section on the Coker cl***ics before I had the new 8.20x15’s mounted hoping the new ones would be just a little narrower to help with an occasional rub I have on the rear inner wheel house. The Coker’s were 9.750 cross section width when mounted on 15x7 Wheels the new Auburns are 9.250 so I was happy about that. Cosmetically they look great The only think I don’t particularly like is the outside edge of the white wall sticks out about .125 but it’s not very noticeable. Now for the drive review. I put them on my car and took off. They immediately felt better than my Bias plies. While going through the neighborhood. Then out to the highway and within about 2miles 2of the wheel weights flung off as soon As I got up to about 55 mph so I can’t say for sure how much better they are yet because I’m so freaking pissed it messed up my front fender. So, more to come later after I get them re balanced and I guess I’ll be getting a fender re painted as well. I’m fuming mad right now!

Finally had them balanced (a second time) and was able to drive it last night. It’s rides MUCH better. The shaking/vibration that shuttered the entire car before at certain speeds, is now gone. They look pretty good as well. So far, I am pretty pleased overall (except for the damage on my fender, but I’ll have that repaired. We leave next weekend on our Bourbon Run trip. It’s about 1200 miles with some spirited Kentucky backroads in the mix. I’ve always just ran the Coker bias plies because that’s all I knew of that looked “right”. Now I’m happy to say those of us that hop in them and drive them on long road trips have another option. Here’s a few pics of them on the car.

Boy, I like those. If I knew they existed I might have ordered a set instead of the Firestone cheater slicks for my '30.

 

They ride very good. I have around 1000 miles on them and no complaints so far. I wish I would have bought them for the front as well but I got some Towel City front runners there.

I have about 3000 miles on diamond back 8.20 - 15's and 5.50 - 15's and they are so much better than the coker tires. The 7.50 - 16 and 5.00 - 16 cokers never would balance and at high speed it always felt like the wheels were loose. The diamond back radials are smooth and handle well. The sidewalls aren't as tall as the firestones but the driving improvement is worth it. I usually never get replacement insurance on tires but did with these, one rear tire got damaged all I had to do was send them a picture and they sent a new tire to me.

 

Yes as long as you ain't expecting lots of traction when you dump the clutch. I have about 2000 miles on them now and they still ride good. They did well pulling a trailer in the mountains during Sick Smokies drag and drive.
