Built in the 50s and hasn't cracked or fallen out. I'd wager it's lead.

I'm sure your grandma taught something along the lines of "if you have nothing nice to say, don't say it". So all I will say is it is not one of the 5-windows built by Bill Crowell with the lowered dog house. I am familiar with his work, as I have the three window that he built. It does have a Falcon gauge cluster, dash knobs, and radio. I bet the seats are Falcon also.

Bondo has become the defacto term for any plastic or other non-lead fillers used in body work.

Your grandma was most likely a very decent woman, as were mine. But that never stopped them from voicing their opinions. The HAMB, at least in the Good Old Days , was never shy about voicing opinions whether requested or not.

Hot Rods built like this don't appeal to everyone, but I like it! HRP

IMHO any one that would do that to a 32 should not be allowed to own one.

It was back when modifying Hot Rods was cooler than worrying about a 32 on a Honeymoon Virgin night.

I kinda think that people on a traditional hot rod forum that don't or can't appreciate a wonderful time capsule like this could possibly be on the wrong site...

Man, that thing is too cool! Not sure it is $31k cool, but I can easily see myself driving it with very little changes. I might just have to get correct tires on it and possibly lose the box on the cowl. Otherwise, it seems about perfect.

I think holding a line on pastel paint, tweed interiors, billet wheels or LS engines is one thing but stifling opinions is quite another.

people can have all the opinions they want. It simply strikes me as strange that some people on a traditional hot rod forum can't appreciate a hot rod virtually unchanged from the era that demonstrates exactly how things were done back then. Like it or not it is history and that is what this place is all about...

I'd be curious on builder and ownership history.
That I would love to know.
This is THE 50's/60's east coast signature of unchopped / channeled back in the day.
You never know, I might have seen it at the Hartford, Connecticut Armory back in 65-66 when I was a kid.

Appreciate it as a survivor, certainly. I am virtually certain that as an East Coast teenager in the 60's, I wouldn't have thought that cowl treatment was cool. Old + traditional does not necessarily equal good. One might also ask that unless you we alive and into cars and living on the East Coast in the 1960s , are you en***led to offer an opinion? I'd say yes but?? Also there's the curious HAMB rule we all follow that we'll accept a '64 Falcon running gear but not a '64 Mustang. We're playing here on a very narrow, "traditional" field, but we are also here because we want to be,right?

Not sure how to put this, maybe the definition of "traditional" should be expanded on.
    Traditional 1.0
    Traditional 2.0
    Traditional 3.0
    You know, like 50's, 60's, 70's traditional.
That probably wouldn't fly due to the HAMB cutoff, but that's where protocol and personal interest **** heads.
    Life goes on!

Out of proportion...deck too short, hood too long. Interesting but aesthetically un-appealing regardless of it's history.

  26. Moriarity has it right. Appreciate the car as it is, a true survivor. It may not be every ones cup pf tea, but it is what it is, a true survivor.

No one can rewrite history, or deny it . It just needs to be appreciated for what it is.

  28. I am in the same camp as Mr. @Moriarity, I like it. It is an example of what real in period hot rods were and looked like, when everyone had an idea and built their car!

Not like to not today were almost everyone is is trying to more or less clone of ether the Doane Spencer or Bob Mc Gee roadsters just changing the color, leaving us with a watered down version of what 40s, 50s and early 60s hot rods were.

Part of my perspective here also comes from being friends with Roy Drapal. Would I have built everything on his A coupe like he did? I probably would have done some things differently. But, do I appreciate it being finished in 1956 and never changing since then? ABSOLUTELY!

    Well, Here goes -

It is exactly the way it was minus a few small details. Historic and Era Traditional 100%. Bravo for someone able to not 'Fix" all the giant gaffs on this one. I'm sure that is only my opinion and certain there's plenty of others in the opposite camp. But I respect and actually applaud someone who can stand and say this is exactly how it was built in its time frame. You cannot buy authenticity like that, well maybe this one but the cars state represents more than just $$$. It is truly a time capsule.

Do I think the battery box even comes close to neato, NOPE. Do I think the Channel Job enhances this example of one of Henry's finest offerings, NOPE. Cycle Fenders, NOPE. Etc, ect, etc, NOPE, NOPE, NOPE

But the latter is opinion and based on my minds eye not worth the breath used while typing this.

It is a great example of a car which was built by a soul with talent in a time where the over thought aspects many of us struggle with today had yet to be the judgement line. It is truly refreshing and definitely screams "I did it my way".

Maybe I love the story and the example it sets, this allows me to overlook the first blush of Oh My Goodness that Battery Box is.......................

What do I know about this '32? Truly a *****in' story about a very unique Hot Rod. I am glad someone else owns it though :)

    All the very best,
    Tim
