yep, they are real.

 

this is the Arlen Ness display at the San Francisco Rod Custom and Motorcycle show from 2006. the Purple one is called "Two Bad" and was built in 1977. the blue one was a new build at the time.

 

I wonder how that would feel riding that closest one down the street?

 

I musta wiped them outa my memory.

 

Man, I totally forgot about that guy in front of the beer joint on that monster. Years ago I spent some time staring at that picture.

hard to forget the purple one when you live in the SF Bay Area. I'm sure I saw it at the 1977 Oakland Roadster Show when it was new and many times after that.

I don't know.. I'm sure it had to be in chopper magazines. not sure EasyRider would have covered it.

 

Just a heads up, that cool engine isn't a slice of a Merlin engine at all!
Those jugs are from a 9 cylinder radial aircraft engine!
