Agreed on the steering wheel, and there's some other things I'm not digging. Under hood is ok but nothing mind blowing....$53k before fees.

  3. The center grill tooth is off center and the two on the right are not spaced out the same as the others. How annoying on an otherwise clean looking mercury. Second look makes me think the entire grill center is offset to the p***enger side, my eye goes right to it in every picture. My guess on the winning bid is $38K or less.

No where near the time, labor, and dollars invested to create it I'm sure.
    My guess?.....$47K

I'm going to be optimistic and say $68,000. Over all very nice looking car, but I do agree it's got a few odd hiccups....the hardest to fix being that snarl on the p***enger front wheel arch. Be cool to own a Dean car and could maybe be had at a relative bargain. I don't believe I've seen this car before.

Agree with all points made. That steering wheel is hideous. I wouldn't want to see it in my DD, much less a custom. Wouldn't expect to see the other problems on a car like this. Carson top Mercs don't have quite the appeal to me, either, as a coupe or even a well done four door. IMHO. It'll be interesting to see what it brings.

That was kinda my thought. Surely it's a wang of some sort...I can't imagine Dean stepped back from it while building and thought, "Yup, looks great". LOL Looks like stock Merc wheel lip,, which of course wonked up like that, so it's got to have gotten whacked.

My mother taught me that if I couldn't say anything nice, to not say anything at all. That steering wheel is unique;), and I do like the paint color:). $25,000

Great eye! The entire grille is definitely offset to the right by an inch or so. The drivers side outboard grille edge essentially lines up plumb with the inboard headlight edge, while the p***enger side outboard grille edge ends about an inch further outboard than the inboard headlight plumb line!
In addition to the right front wheelwell being out of shape and not flat at the top, the left front wheelwell is also very lumpy (reminiscent of a poorly done Corvette front clip replacement. The pinstriping above the wheelwells looks thicker and shakier than the rest of the car. Drivers door rides high on the quarter (side trim, pinstripe and sill stainless don't line up. Possibly it was in a front end collision, slapped back together and paint matched? Hard to believe it originally went to finish paint as is. Unless Dean only chopped it and the owner sent it out for sub par bodywork.

$31.5K ($32.5K if they replace the billet steering wheel before bidding, lol)

In my dreams I'm going to buy that with the money I made selling the 426 Hemi that was in the T-Bird:)

needs a little help under the hood. the steering wheel and column needs to go and it needs a stock Mercury front seat.

  17. With the exception of the “suspension “ ( I’ve never heard of **** Dean putting such a thing on any of his builds) I figure it’ll hammer down at around $50k .

It’s a bargain at $30,000. I like the soft tops.

It's got some history, and the color combo still has some pop to it. Really don't think it gonna be bargain city, nor crazy high dollar. Guessing $47,500-ish.

  23. Steering wheel and seat would have to go. Hate fold down arm rests. So it was a vintage build that someone "updated"?

  24. Oh and that hideous column would have to go. Tilt gm columns belong in a g body not a vintage car. And now everyone on the hamb knows my deal breaker lol. I see a tilt column on an otherwise killer car my eyes glaze and I walk away lol

  25. Man the more I look at that dash picture the more id have to change. Billet door handles, generic help aisle dorman gm style power window switches, modern stereo they made no effort to hide, and is that a lawn mower horn ****on screwed to the dash? I'll put an estimate of $15k. At least the shell has history and you could potentially put it on a proper frame and suspension. Mebbe sell some of that junk to get good parts

It's going on Saturday so I doubt it'll sell dirt cheap, but I'm going to say $54K and I'll still call that a pretty great bargain, you likely couldn't replicate it for twice that, and the **** Dean/Larry Watson connections would add some value to me, at least.

Personally I agree I dislike the seat frame and column/wheel but that's pretty minor. I love the headliner and they didn't destroy the dash so those are big plusses for me.
