  2. Wish I never sold my old 53 Monarch 4-door.

I underestimated the cost of building a garage, and had to sell it for the funds. A long time local rodder ended up with it, but p***ed last year. It now sits in a garage until his wife decides what to do with it.

Anyhow, it was a one-paint car, last sprayed in 1969. I sprayed the fresh red on the roof over the factory chocolate brown when I had it. Loved that car!

Here's mine - a '63 Biscayne sedan. I'm the second driver of the car, and the third owner. I bought it in ****inson ND in 2001 from the original owner's son. Original owner was a Sunday school teacher and needed wheels - the Biscayne was the cheapest thing available, and mine really was super bare bones. The only option was a heater. Bench seats, 3-speed, 230 inline six (first year!) - no backup lights, no windshield washer, and certainly no radio! Car has 64k on it.

When the original 230 gave up, I went rogue and had a 292 built for the car, with a big cam, 10.5:1 pistons, lots of head work, SBC valves, split exhaust, Offy intake, 4bbl carb - was super fun for a dozen years. It started consuming huge amounts of oil (1 quart per 400 miles) and rather than continuing to put up with a motor at the edge of streetability, I was either gonna sell the car or put a new motor in it. My 18yo daughter was upset that I was even thinking about selling "her" car, so it got a new motor last Fall!

Of course, his name is Biscuit.

What a great gallery of more door rides. I just purchased a 40 Merc Town Sedan with those awesome suicide doors. Like the boys down at the pool hall would say, "more doors, more *****s", a cr*** statement, but the boys were cr***! My car has a good motor, and I hope to make it my daily. I have to learn to post pictures again!
