I am all set to start my bone splitting project. I am searching the Speedway catalog, getting the tie rod ends, jam nuts, bungs, and then I started looking at the bolt on radius rod brackets they have. I really don't need all that whole big bracket, all I want is the 7 degree tapered holes to mate with the tie rod ends. Then I will weld the donuts to a couple of my own fab'd brackets. Does anyone just sell the tapered donuts or do ya gotta buy the big ass brackets? If not, I don't have access to a lathe, so I'll probably shell out the dough and get the brackets. I don't have any old steer arms sitting around, or I would steal the tapered ends off of those. Thanks for any input you guys have - you're the best. Mike
You could try a piece of thickwall tubing and get a 7* reemer. Think speedway also sells those. Cut the piece of tubing to whatever lenght you need and reem the center to the 7*. John
The tool alone is about $80 and best suited for use on a drill press where you have some control. A machine shop would probably do it for not too much. Looks like 36-3window has you covered though.
36-3 Window is the man....I sent you my address. Thanks for the info on Speedway also! Thanks again to all y'all. Mike
Speedway Motors has them. Part #916-36502. $3.95 each. It is called a shock eye. Page 31 in my catalog. I've used them successfully.
