rebuilding after the crash

  1. Happy New Year everyone. Out in the shop early. My emergency call rotation is complete. Time to get back on the car. It's a runner again. This time it has oil at the rockers. There's nothing like the sweet smell of nitro in the shop. It fired right up.
Now that's done it's time to move on to a fun project. That being a Bruno cooler. More on that soon. PXL_20260101_182935018.MP.jpg

  4. This was a fun project today. The Bruno gets. real hot along with the converter. I can smell the fluid. It smells like rotten sulfur. To cool the unit I made this. Quick connect lines will go from the Bruno to the pump and cooler. It has a switch that turns it on and off based on the temp. Fancy units sell for 3500-4500 dollars. I bought a cart for 50.00 a pump for 150.00 half off at PRI. I had the cooler and fan and battery. The lines from the attached cooler will be re proposed for the new cooler. My local hydraulics place had the quick connect fittings. I will make the hoses Sunday. The welds will get ground down a little then primed and painted.
This is a great thing to have when your going rounds. I was so desperate in Havanna I emptied a CO2 bottle on the converter and trans pan to cool it off. PXL_20260104_000316142.jpg

That’s a nice setup Brian and will sure make goin rounds way better and much easier on the Bruno and trans we sure needed that at mokan as well

  6. The cooler is done. I just need to connect the wires permanently. I will be testing it hooked up to the car today. One more winter project checked off the list. Next up changing the blown out speakers on the outside of the trailer. PXL_20260110_214141550.MP.jpg

  7. The cooler was tested. It's all good.
I need to make a new front brake line. With the torsion bar removed I need to re route the line. I want to start the engine soon. I want to test the Bruno and lenco. I need brakes to do that.

Some of those pit cooler's are ridiculous expensive..
Your program , what converter temp do you try to keep temp @ when staging & what temp clime to in a p*** ?
Are you in the experimenting ,
As maybe a gallon or 2 tank with a viewing top with filter to see if any debris present , & flow rate adjustable
To get a good heat transfer and cooling.
20 ish so years ago I made one similar
    Used a aluminum radiator 16 x 16
My temp's I try to keep in the
    160 - 170 range But not a Bruno.

  11. I set the Bruno pressure at 100 lbs at 3000 rpms. At idle it's 90 lbs.
The cooler has a thermal switch that activates at 180 degrees.
The Bruno has a filter that can be inspected and cleaned. It's done often.
I might hook up a temp sensor to the data logger.

  12. A new front brake line was made. The brakes were bled. We didn't fire the car do to the high winds and temps in the single digits. We have to open the doors to fire it up. I didn't waist the weekend. I did a bunch of truck maintenance. It doesn't matter the order that we do things. It all needs to get done

  13. The cold and wind is crazy. -10 air temp. -45 with the wind chill. It gets cool in the shop so I brought a few things into the house to work on. When those things were finished I turned my attention to my 1946 Rock-ola jukebox. It needed some servicing. I have neglected it being so busy racing. A record tray broke so a lot needed to come apart to fix it. I will pick at it all weekend.
Now it's time to relax by the fire and stay warm. Some Red Breast 21 year Irish whiskey is perfect on a night like tonight. If you know you know PXL_20260124_014755835.jpg PXL_20260124_014803712.MP.jpg PXL_20260124_015016887.MP.jpg
