My 37 flathead came with the oil pan broken and I'll need a new one in a few weeks. Do these interchange between the model years? Mine was cast aluminum with rear sump.

Cast aluminum? The only aluminum oil pans I know of fit 32. 32-48 should be the same. 49-53 will be different.

Thanks! I have a European motor, this may be the reason for the cast pan in 37.

Your motor is probably from a military instalation.
There where several alupans around here in europe.
I have seen 3 different additional to the Stock Ford 32.

In the pics you see 2 different pans from 24 studs. One with a Ford script logo on the drain plug on the side, and another with the drainplug under and a triangle logo besides the Ford script. Probably some military insignia I guess.
Thes pans came with 2 different bolt patterns for starters.
One for the regular Bendix and one for a BOSCH starter.

I'm not quite sure what year the where changes in pan designs. May be around 37-38-39, or perhaps it just follows the stud-numbers. Can't remember exactly. Think it has something to do with the oil pick up clearance. There where definately a change from 49 like manicmechanic says. I guess someone else around here knows.

Pans from '35-48 interchange, though there are some issues with baffles/pump pickups on some combos. Those years will certainly differ in various Euro sources, since some early engines were made into the fifties and later, and changeovers came late...
At least German engines had aluminum pans.
Anyway, any integral-bellhousing pan WITH the little side chamber vent will fit a '37. The British made '37 motors til about '52.

  8. Nice one Sheldon. Looks pretty beefy. I just put my steel truck pan with the big inspection plate on the bathroom scales and it came to 10 kilogram. Whats yours weigh.

Lovely...Back in '55, we referred to these flathead 'specialty items' as 'goodies'!
This aluminum pan of @Deuce Lover is certainly one of those!
