Well it's a bit of a cope out as my avatar was on the road last year but then I decided I needed to change the valve stem seals. That was a correct decision - they were rock hard - but the story developed (had to replace 4 pushrods and 4 rocker arms) so I never got the chance to start the engine and check for any ticking etc. before the big freeze. That has to take place before anything else... If all is well I'll just drive it this summer with the rest of the things (front disc brake conversion and pulling out the engine for inspection before deciding what to do with it) happening off-season.. And as some others here, at 64 my body is letting me know my age so yes, I hope that stays on the road too...

Pick a diagnosis! Labyrinthitis, Mennier's, VOC Cancelation, Vertigo...I'm fine other than I haven't been able to drive a car since September. I walked for 45 minutes on my treadmill without holding on two days ago, looking ahead not at my feet. Felt pretty ****y, right until I got off and hit the floor. So much fun! Going to PT once a week, it will p*** sooner or later. Until then I am one dizzy dude!

After years of this being on the back burner, I'm hopeful that 26 is the year.

Hopefully gonna get my dad's old Shay roadster going as a proper hot rod(as proper as you can make a Shay). Gonna leave the body/paint as is. I have a steel model A dash for it and will make an aluminum firewall cover. I already started on an original A style frame. Gonna run a 4'' Mor Drop axle with F1 brakes/steering up front, F1 rear end, and will be powered by a 58 Dodge 315 Hemi/833 trans. I'd certainly rather be building a real Model A, but the car has sentimental value me and gl*** was good enough for Big Daddy Roth, so.........

I'm wrestling with a delima. I'm turning 84, many of my hot rod buddies have p***ed on and I am slowly losing the urge to spend my days in my shop. I have two projects left in the shop and am thinking of putting them on the road this year-----to someone else.

I have my 1940 Merc Town Sedan project in my plans, a complete interior is needed. My Mexican blanket collection will be called to duty. I am aiming for a 1940's L.A. Mexican mild custom look.

I have two that, God willing, I could have on the road this year. One finished and one just driving. Our Morris woody just needs paint and re***embly then it’s off to the upholstery shop - done.
    IMG_6843.jpeg
And I’m finally making progress on our little ‘33 pickup. I’m thrashing on it now (if you can call an old man sitting on a brake stool thrashing) to get it on all fours. I hope to have it running and in primer by the end of summer.

Here’s hoping, for all of us, that our health, the health of our loved ones, and our finances stay solid or improve in 2026.

  30. Thanks Danny.:D JW
