Bought this truck frame with this 4 link on it. Just trying to get opinions on it as I have never seen one set up this way and am trying to determine if I should change it.
The pic isn't great but, it appears that it will have quite a bit of pinion angle change throughout its travel. the upper bars are rather short. GM did this type of 4link in the Chevelles and Impalas to move the drive shaft down as the rear went up to keep the tunnel shallower.
90's Mustangs have pretty short upper control arms and they handel pretty well. Not the angles or position I would have used but it will likely work. Lower and raise the frame up woth no springs and see what the pinion angle does .
I would make a drawing and run it through its range of action (shock stroke) including the pinon angle, remembering that one side (right) might go up while the other side goes down, or both sides go up, or down, depending on the terrain.
It looks like no weight on it at the moment. Might not be to bad once the lower arms are about level with the ground.
Triangular 4 link Will work good for street use , Basically few adjustments Pinion angle , side to side & ride height. Just not as well As a drag 4 link , Also depends on what you're looking for Performance wise & handling, Your Triangle 4 link shown has a minimum amount of adjustments.. pic below are General drag 4 L. More Advance 4 L are available..
Is that a TF GM truck? Any way to take it down the road before changing anything? Was the PO driving or just dreaming? Might be fine…
