Since you found it, why not move it over to the Off Topic section now that it is still in existance somewhere?

You are now going over it with a "fine tooth comb" but as for the "visible ifs", I'd guess you had to look pretty hard to find that, but I no longer have those pictures available to me to check. My old computer died and when the guy downloaded my old files to my new computer , the folders for the 23 & 24 Nats did not get loaded. That was a year or so ago.

As for the "tunnel ram" not available until 1968........I'd bet 90% of Hamb guys didn't know that. I sure didn't, so I looked it up. Apparently there were home made tunnel rams used as early as 1958/1959 by a race team called the "RamChargers" (Chrysler engineers) in a modified 49 Plymouth called "High and Mighty". Then a fellow named Ralph Ridgeway used a Vette FI intake and modified it to make a prototype for his tunnel ram which apparently was available in 1965. Apparently he won the 1965 NHRA Nationals C Modified cl*** at Bristol Tn . Here is what I found on a site named :
"Original-Blast from the Past Drag Racing" by a moderator.
"This is a Ridge Runner Ram and it is basically the first tunnel ram intake designed for small block Chevy engines and sold in “volume. M***achusetts native Ralph Ridgeway, a very successful modified production drag racer invented the piece and worked to develop it with a guy named Carl Debien."
    Can't post the pictures here...........

Followed up by : Jim Hill (who appears to be a professional author/writer and maybe a historian)
    Jim Hill
"Carl Debian, Deb's Speed Shop was in Hartford, Connecticut. Ralph Ridgeway was the man who took the plenum and bed of a Rochester Fuel Injection manifold, built a top to mount a pair of Carter AFB carburetors and dominated ultra-popular C/Modified Production in 1965. Edelbrock, Offenhauser and Weiand quickly cloned Ridgeway's design, with alterations, and built their own versions. Ridgeway had casting patterns made and made from-scratch intakes for small and big block Chevy's. The marketing and distribution power of Edelbrock and Weiand eventually overpowered that of Ridgerunner Manifolds. Ironically, the idea of a long runner intake manifold that mounted carburetors high above the inlet sides of the cylinder heads was pioneered by the Ramchargers' famous '49 Plymouth coupe, "The High & Mighty", back in 1958. Current hand fabricated, sheet metal intake manifolds (and a large chunk of all current racing intakes) have all evolved from the fertile minds of the Chrysler employees after-hours hot rod club called The Ramchargers."

Also, the basis for coming across this info happens to be an old HAMB thread aptly ***led : When Did Tunnel Rams First Come About ?

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/when-did-tunnel-rams-first-come-about.965991/

It has lots pictures of tunnel ram intakes. Take a look at post #18 as it "purportedly" shows a "factory installed" bathtub tunnel ram on a 1963 421 Pontiac SD.

So now I'm confused.......... The purists are always looking for the esoteric hard to find and little known examples of anything prior to 1966 and this would be a real find if its all true. But what is true...........Honestly, I don't know.

Believe it or not, you are pointing out just how difficult it is to provide content that is absolutely flawless for Hamb consumption. That's one of those "minute details" that only a few (%) would even know about a tunnel ram, yet many people seem to remember it differently.

I hope this is viewed as objective discussion

Believe me, the tunnel ram is far from the only thing wrong with the suburban. Some guys get it and some don't. It is time for you to let this go.. as Ryan said this place is not going to change. He posted the offending pictures on the previous page here and none of those vehicles even remotely belong here

The HAMB is my go-to in order to quench my thirst for what I love. Traditional. I have no issue with @Ryan holding the line and keeping it that way. His house, his rules.

Sorry man. I’m not taking requests at the moment. Like I said, stick around and learn a thing or two or find a forum that is more inline with your interests.

Either way, I wish you the best.
