Well, I convinced the wife that the inner tubes would work! Went ahead and ordered them!
She said… “ That’s what you and your friends said about The tires!’”
I told her about the brake clean trick and she said no way get the dang inner tubes!
I’m on real thin ice with her right now lol!!!

    Thanks!
I used black rustoleum gloss spray paint on the spring leaves, And a graphite gray wheel paint on the rear end housing.

Definitely use the tubes to stretch the tyres. I had a problem seating some tyres lately and had to find a tyre place with one of those air blast devices to blow them onto the rims. If you can get one bead seated you can push the wheel through and maybe get the other one to "catch" and take air. Years ago a tyre place did a trick I had not seen before. He used a tube to seat the tyre. He then broke one side of the tyre off it's bead and pulled the tube out. He was then able to push the wheel until the second bead caught and got it inflated. Your tyres ought to be sitting with a tube in them now to get them set in a stretched state. Hope some of this might help.

I actually thought of doing the one bead trick both with or without a tube. But I am just gonna use tubes!

He had up to 40 cars and probably 20 more worth of parts at one time! All the two doors coops roadsters three windows you name it Kind of sad really but he is 82 years old!

it's hard watching our parents age & if we're lucky we'll get our turn. my dad is nearly 86 & 3 years ago moved out of the house he & mum built where I grew up. was a tricky time.

the 39 is a cool thing

    Here’s some:
My Aunt Dolly had a bug with a fake 37 ford front end before the “33Doll”
And My Pop built her a ‘40 ford Pick up, in exchange for the ‘33 7 years. Later!!!
So she didn’t keep it too long and bought a 65 Mustang convertible! Cause she was pissed at my dad! I kind of don’t blame her.
(yes that’s me at different ages!

This is all my Pops has left.
33 roadster ch***is with the Flathead I want!
    His last engine he built!
I tried to tell him the nostalgia factor, but he’s hell bet on selling it too, but he still has it so maybe he’s changing his mind???
It’d be actually nice to get that T5 that’s behind it too!!! IMG_5816.jpeg IMG_5817.jpeg

    So…
I guess it’s all right to hijack my own thread??
Specially, while I’m waiting for these inner tubes to come!
and I’m going through old photos, and my dad sold everything except for this one last ch***is!
I made one last plea for it!!!

Something along the lines of….the amount of small dollars you would get for this, ch***is compared to the grand scheme of things….with inheritance and all that.

My stepmother gets the house, gets the pension gets the Social Security yada yada yada then,
Then when she p***es… the inheritance is gonna be split between my brother and my two step Brothers. All of which don’t care about old cars, and our history.

Basically, I’m the last guy in the family that cares about these cars. So I presented it that way, one last time!!!

So if you’re the praying type, pray that he will see that at least some of our legacy will be p***ed on!

Here is the last pictures I had of it when he moved a few years ago. hopefully, it’s still looks like this.

Basically, the history of the 33 roadster, Is as follows….
He bought it in the late 70s as a restored, Stock 33 roadster ch***is, and the body was the next project, Which was in really good shape no rust.
    Just the wood, rotten.
And it’s pretty much been that way for several years. Then he decided to start building a ch***is about less than 10 years ago? So he was building a Hot Rod ch***is for it….
    Then life happened!

So he’s been selling off everything since, and this is the last ch***is, with some kind of sedan Cowl for mock up.
He found an original ch***is to put the body back on and sold it a couple months ago before the 39.
the 40 convertible in the picture has been gone for about a year or two.
So the ch***is with the Flathead is all that he has left!!!

    And dammit, I want it!!!
But….I don’t have the funds to buy it, because trying to save buy our retirement house!! Hopefully in Oklahoma!!!

So that’s about it!!! am I being a spoiled son asking for early inheritance or just trying to preserve some of our legacy left?

My wife seems to agree with me, that it’s about the legacy. I know he’s giving me a lot of cars and parts last 10 years or so. but it’s really not about that. It’s about preservation!
at least that’s how I see it.
    what do you all think?
most of you should know me by now.

Praying you can get that ch***is Rick. My dad ended up giving me his Harley a few years ago as an early inheritance partly since he was frustrated that he couldn't sell it for what he thought it was worth. I needed something to get back and forth to work that got decent mileage and I think he would rather me have the bike for free than selling it for almost free. Anyway, hoping it works out and you bring it with you when you move in down the street...

    Thanks!
I just gotta figure out how the hell I’m gonna get all this stuff to Oklahoma!!!
I figure I could take the ch***is apart and then just stand the frame up inside the moving truck?
Well, I saw that he read my message on my iPhone, so I’m sure he needs to ponder for a while!!! I was gonna say to him also, if this Flathead in the 33 goes out. It’s not like I can just go grab another one. That means the 33 is gonna be down and out. I need a spare man.!

If I was your Dad, it'd be yours with a hug because Dads and Sons do that...;)

Knowing you you'd have project #2 done and take him for a ride in it...heck you could even slip him a few dollars or dinners here and there for bonding, that’s quite frankly precious...

What is your vision of that one...with a cowl it could be any model really...;)

Well, I got another quick story about my pops first 34 Since the weather is bad and everybody’s probably not doing a whole lot!

So my dad got this in high school, and I ended up with it around 2001, and I couldn’t work on it properly at the time, because the skills weren’t there yet,! but the body had some twisting issues. I couldn’t get the doors to close so I ended up selling it and buying a 71 Bronco. so….my dad pretty much didn’t talk to me for a few years after that!
anyway, everything’s all good since then.
So here’s the beginning to when I had it.
And I shouldn’t have sold those custom Will antique chrome rims because they don’t have them anymore!!!
    Idiot!

Have you tried to use a pipe and a rope to run around the center of the tire and tighten it by turning the bar??..it will force the beads out..The other is some starting fluid to pop them out..Use it sparingly...with caution....And of course that BLAST can of air that the truck shops use for bigg tires.....
