I'm asking my HAMB brethren where I can source 4 28 X 3 all white tires. There's so much diversity here, and they're also used on vintage bikes, so I thought I'd do a reach around and ask here. I'd take 4 nice used ones, they don't have to be fresh and new. "Yeah but what for Jocko? What are they going on?" Ok, here... 1913 Coey cycle car. We don't know if it's a Bear or Junior. In it's day it was pretty fast, and the Coey won 7 out of 9 cycle car races, some held here in Detroit. Kool, huh? Anyways, if one of you fellow hoodlums know of a stash we'd be much obliged. Thanks in advance.
I couldn't begin to say where to get those tires, but that's a dang cool little cyclecar! Semi-elliptics front and back! Rear brakes only!
There are some 28x2.25 here, https://cokertire.com/tires/28x2-1-4-cl-firestone-all-white-racing.html 23" rim, they have other rim sizes too.
Don’t forget your credit card… they are proud of white smoothies these days. Summit usually has same price as Coker direct, but offers free shipping https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...1252637853230&utm_content=GSAPI+5ba252f0ac4f5
What is a cycle car? What makes it different from a regular car? That one doesn't look that different than a Model T.
Don't hold my feet to the fire on details, but the way I think it was when a motorcycle was much cheaper tax and registration wise. It's really small, maybe front to back total is about 9' give or take. The Woods Mobilette was small enough to fit in the back of a modern pickup. This one is a little bigger. It's like a ¾ scale T. They've warned us that it's really fast, actually too fast for its platform and we should exercise caution. Good to be a hoodlum, we'll give her a go... As to new ones, so far all are out of stock and they're waiting for enough orders to make another batch for sale. Could be 6 mo to a year
The most popular use for 28x3 clincher tires are for Model N Fords (1906-1907) and other cars such as Cadillacs, Brush, Maxwell etc etc which were made in prior 1909. The different new tire manufacturers made thousands of these during the last couple decades. Look and/or put an ad on the MTFCA website www.mtfca.com and the Pre-Ford section, HCCA sections at www.aaca.org and the Horseless Carriage website www.hcca.org Chances are there are some unused or little used tires around. Lmk if I can help.
Thanks to everyone for your input. Turns out we were hollering before we were hurt. These tires will clean up really nice, no cracks, nice and "soft" rubber everywhere, no excess hardness detected. Now I just have to sort getting the 1 off for a new tube. No split, I'm thinking like a big bicycle tire
Tell us more about the car. Engine, gears, top speed. Will a hemi fit… well you can p*** on that last one
