Working the front frame section. Narrowed up the new front end for the new axle. Stepping away from the '56 Chevy truck axle and going to run with a straight tube axle setup. Still running Chevy spindles and steering but going to run 49-54 car spindles vs truck stuff. Narrowing up the frame section allowed me to tuck the rails to the inner side of the factory frame, so grafting was more on the outside only vs both inner and outer. I'll get the axle mocked up and design leaf spring hangers next and get this to a rolling ch***is.

The outside fish plates are not the finished product. I cut the holes for better weld area directly to the frame rail. I'll come back in and fab up a 3-sided angled piece on the brake to come in at the body mount and head forward to the frame to triangulate that a little bit and clean everything up. I put that filter piece between the body mount and frame just to make things nice and solid. I've got a little forming to do on the outside and probably will cut holes for weld there as well. So far everything is nice and solid and dimensionally still spot on. I had some nice X-bracing that I didn't think to take photos of during most of the welding.

Also not shown is I heated and formed the top of the existing frame section to mold tightly to the new frame then welded those together before actually installing the fish plates. I forgot to take pics of a few things.

Calling this good for now until I get the axle mocked up and start building spring hangers. Welded up and faired in the outer plates tonight.
